ALDI Prahran is not just grocery shopping it is a strategy game.nnThe bargain bins are the real entertainment. You stand there watching the prices drop while secretly hoping the item you’ve been eyeing gets cheaper but not too cheap, because there is always another shopper nearby with the exact same mission.nnIt becomes a silent battle of patience, timing, and eye contact. Are you waiting for that discount too. I am just casually standing here staring at this item for 10 minutes.nnThe middle aisles and special buys are always changing, which is part of the fun. ALDI has a habit of showing you something amazing one week, making you think about it, and then when you come back the next week it has disappeared like it was never there.nnDo not worry though if you spot something in the frozen section and it is gone the following week, there is a good chance it will make a comeback. ALDI products have their own holiday schedule.nnThe best advice! If you see something you like, grab it. Waiting for next week might mean you are left telling your friends a story about the one bargain that got away!
The store is consistently understaffed, self-checkouts are always closed, and there are never any bags for fresh produce. When the queues are long, I leave and shop elsewhere. There’s also a man smoking and begging outside the entrance on market days when traffic is high and he can make some good money hint... move him along.
Self serve is barely open anymore and you have to queue at one register until they realise there are too many people, then open self serve and then quickly close it, meanwhile you wasted 5 minutes queued up, what a joke, get some more staff if you can't handle a functioning checkout system. Quality of products has declined recently as well.
An absolute disgrace of a shopping experience.nnAvoid this location at all costs unless you enjoy wasting your day standing in endless queues.nnThis place has become completely unmanageable due to their sheer greed and utter refusal to staff the store. Closing down the self-checkouts during peak daylight hours just to force a massive line of frustrated customers into a single, bottlenecked lane is downright insulting.nnIt is painful to watch them actively exploit their skeleton crew, running the few employees they have left straight into the ground. There is absolutely no excuse for this. A massive corporation pulling in these kinds of profits can easily afford to staff their store properly and keep basic services open. They have completely lost the plot.
I was in the store for one minute and had two staff on me to search me. The only bag was on my back which i could not possible have reached to steal anything into. Popping in for two items for my father in hospital and you get harassed. Maybe they didnt like my shoes. Never going to this store again having been treated as though i was a thief for just being there
