We accepted their quote to build our tennis court and paid a $2,500 deposit in August 2017. The AS Lodge salesman promised us they would deal with the council and get us our permit. Every 4 weeks I would call AS Lodge to see where we were tracking with the permit. I was constantly chasing them. The permit wasn’t lodged with the council until mid-November and I’ve since discovered it was missing significant amounts of information. The council requested further information from AS Lodge at the end of November, which AS Lodge evidently didn’t follow up. When I called AS Lodge in January they assured me that the permit was going to be approved “any day now” and they were just “waiting for a phone call”, knowing full well that the council was waiting on different reports that they were supposed to have supplied. Then the salesman I was dealing with left – without notice – to go on long service leave and didn’t pass on our job to anyone within the company. So unsurprisingly our permit lapsed with the council, which I only discovered after calling the council in February to see what the hold-up was as no one from AS Lodge was returning my calls. AS Lodge wasted 6 months of time and we had nothing to show for it. I called AS Lodge to tell them that we were not going to be continuing our contract with them, and that I either needed my $2,500 refunded or a copy of all the reports that were done (from the surveyor and draftsman) as well as the permit application documents. For a further 4 weeks they put me off and gave me continual excuses as to why they couldn’t supply me with the reports I’d paid for. I turned up to their office unannounced on two occasions, and the second time I happened to go when the salesman was there. He was unapologetic for the permit lapsing or for wasting (now) 7 months of our time. Incredibly he even tried to blame me for the fact that the permit lapsed! He gave me what seemed like most of the permit application docs, but after I got home I realised he had neglected to give me the surveyor report that I’d paid $1650 for. I ended up recovering that document directly from the surveyor however we are still out of pocket $1000 that we will never see again. Use AS Lodge if you dare!
