Was absolutely amazing!!! laksa was a tad hot jokes i didn't realize that a laksa was suppose to be that hot, well, overall, it was amazing, the service, the food, the ambiance will definitely go back here for a nice, relaxed dinner with my partner
Amazing dishes and excellent service! We ordered thai beef ribs & spicy flat white noodles and both of them amazed us! The noodle is quite spicy which I love so much and the beef is very much juicy and soft. Just a wee reminder that the portion is not very big, if you're so hungry. Highly recommended overall!! Leaving this comment while waiting for the desert, Pls don't let me down haha
I ordered fried fish streaks which was served on a sizzling plate, tasted delicious, nice peppery sauce, good portion. Service was friendly and fast, and the restaurant interior was nice. The only thing is parking could be a bit tricky.Food: 5/5
Great food for a reasonable price! We had fried squid as a starter, I had the vietnamese honey roasted pork belly and my partner had the spicy fish stir fried. Both were delicious and the portions were generous!
So disappointed, this used to be my favourite Thai place in Christchurch. Have ordered the tofu pad Thai for about 5 years. Unfortunately, the pad Thai I received today was revolting. Bright pink, overly sweet sauce. Mushy vegetables and noodles absolutely swimming in it. Egg and tofu were inedible. Sorry team, I have been a loyal customer for years but it’s clearly time to move on. Wondering if there is a new chef or ownership?
Had the spicy fish which has made me rate this place the best Thai I've had in Christchurch. Mother in law had the green curry and she loved the portion size as well as creaminess. Service was really excellent, had to ask for a bunch of different items because of my 3 year old but staff were attentive and obliging.Food: 5/5
Worst ever restaurant experience. We selected $32 set menu. First up no entry was served. We had to ask for it snd it came after we ate mains. Mains were barely with meats. It was looked like carrot and cauliflower made in different styles. Fish stake had two pieces fish on top snd nothing underneath. Only the prawns dish had more than two pieces of prawns. No value for money at all. We were a big group of 21 and we had to buy pizza later on as we were still hungry.
I've eaten and had takeaway from Zaffron many times as the food it great however I was very dissappointed last night when I ordered $80 of takeaway food, of which two mains came with rice, I checked while ordering only to be given a very small portion of rice equivalent to maybe 4 tablespoons. I called up thinking one serving had been left out only to be told that the small box was actually two servings. Considering the price of rice and the fact others have complained about the size of takeaway rice, maybe consider not being so tight and at least double the portion size.
The food here is terrible. We had satay skewers, and they were sitting in a puddle of water on the plate, and served with an overly sugary peanut sauce. My wife had Vietnamese fried noodle, which turned out be some noodles in another sickly sweet sauce with no other discernable flavours. I ordered the Thai spicy noodle with basil. It was about a 1/10 for spice and had 2 sad little bits of basil in it, and not even Thai basil, just regular basil. The beef was rubbery. The meal was so bad we put in a takeaway box and took it home to go rescue it with some actual flavor - imagine going to a restaurant and the food is so bad that you would rather recook it yourself than eat what was served. About the only thing that was acceptable was the fresh spring rolls, but even those were a little rubbery as if they had been left to out a while and started to dry up. If you like quality Thai food avoid this place. Commi is just over the road anyway if you want fresh south east asian flavours.
