Came here last night with my brother and dad after a long day at the hospital with my mom. There were only two other couples there and we sat down and got our menus. Food came out very quickly which sometimes can be abit worrying. However the food was really fresh and hot and tasty. I did have to ask for rice though as that doesn’t seem to be included at any stage of the menu. I had 5 spiced pork. Dad had fried noodles with pork and my brother had chicken, veges and cashews which he said there were hardly any in there. My meal was ok. The only thing I would ask is that the carrots be cut smaller. They kind of overtook the whole meal but apart from that I will go back again to try some entrees and other bits and pieces. Thanks Saigon Star.
The first time I tried the beef pho it really filled my soul and tasted like I was back in Vietnam.. this second time soup base tastes different not very strong flavours... the fried spring rolls the shell of the spring rolls is the texture of like prawn shells and quite sharp and edgy when you bite into them... overall nice could have more noodles and beef in the pho for price...
The taste is not perfect but it’s ok. Normally when you order Vietnamese iced coffee in North America, it comes with a Stainless Steel Vietnamese Coffee Drip Pot With a Coffee Filter Infuser which passes hot water through the grounds coffee into a cup that already contains condensed milk and ice. Here, the iced coffee just like a regular coffee with ice and condensed milk.
I have dined here many times. Always enjoy it. As do the friends and whānau I have introduced this restaurant to. Great food. Authentic, delicious and affordable. Easy parking too.Food: 5/5
Deeply upset and incredibly angry, I was told the food was gluten free after I said multiple times I was coeliac and to let the chef know. One of the dishes came with a sauce that was not gluten free. It was too late after I started eating it when the waiter noticed and bought out a different sauce. I complained I was having a reaction from gluten poisoning and he he said was sorry. Didn’t even refund the dish or comp the bill. Not good enough, coeliac is a very serious disease and I was told the food was gluten free and safe. I do not recommend this restaurant what so ever and will be filing a complaint.
Fast service and affordable prices, lovely option for lunch or dinner just next the Westfield Riccarton.
I’d have to say that this wee Vietnamese restaurant has become one of our faves when we are in town for lunch sometimes and dinner more often. Always delicious fresh food with yummy veges and plenty of taste. Our favourites are the Pho, Thai Chicken Salad, the Saigon Star paper rolls and the Vietnamese Omelette.
This was a pleasingly appetising experience. The restaurant itself is quite tiny but it has a warm and inviting ambience. The produce they use in their dishes are fresh and flavoursome and they really contribute to the quality of their dishes. I highly recommend their beef pho and the beef coconut and mushroom stir fry. The beef was finely shaved and served medium rare which added to the sweet flavour of the dish. The vegetables were also al dente which heightened the tasty textured nature of the dish. I'm not much of a dessert man, but their deep fried banana and ice cream pud is a definite must!
Normally these guys are great. Best fresh spring rolls around. Just don’t Uber eats from them. Mine arrived 20 minutes late with 85% of the sauce in the bag and 15% in the pottle. My pancake was cold and pretty much inedible. If you just blame the driver and have no offer to fix this, then why would people waste their money on your food again? So disappointed.
