YHA New Zealand

It was about my fourth stay and the worst. The room next door had a boom box playing on the early evening. At 3.00am they returned from being out and continued to talk and keep me awake for an hour. I tried to relocate to the main building but the key code on my key did not work. I noticed that others had a different code. I wasn't even advised that there was a code on my key fob. Not one bed had a working light above the bed. The kitchen had only 2 cups in the morning and seemed messy and under supplied. Dishes were in sinks unwashed. The place is for sale and I think that they have given up. It should lose its YHA accreditation, which is a shame.

Such a cool hostel. The main cause has such character. The service was so wonderful and they were so accommodating as we arrived a tad late. The four legged hosts are also wondering. The room was so tidy and beautifully presented. The room was warm and the fire was on in the common room. I would have loved to have stayed longerRooms: 5/5

Very impressed with the facilities at this hostel. Beautiful flower garden, roomy well-stocked kitchen, beautiful outdoor eating deck. Booked twin room, lovely, clean comfortable, extension cord for plugs. Would definitely stay againRooms: 5/5

Interesting and well kept hostel. Kitchen and gardens are clean and there are many areas if you are in need of some quiet. We had a private double with shared bathroom. The toilet and shower were just down the hall. Kitchen is well stocked including plates, cutlery pots pans. It was clean and guests treated it respectfully by cleaning and replacing items

Very accommodating. Great service. Happy to put our motorcycles inside yard. Gave us extra cabin so we all had bottom bunks/ beds. Free breakfast with the rooms. Nice clean shower and toilet block. Overall very nice and we will be going back there.

Beautiful room...comfortable bed...nice linen. Absolutely fantastic hosts...an gorgeous resident cats. Easy 5 minute walk to town...yet such a peaceful place. Definately will stay again...an recommend to others

This hostel was beautiful, everything was so well kept and clean and so many beautiful flowers around the property - I thought this was great. I booked a 3 bed female dorm and the extra touches of two pillows and a lamp and an extension cable at each bed was so helpful and practical. The only thing was there wasn't anywhere to hang my towel as the two hooks were taken by people's coats so perhaps more areas for this?. The kitchen was very clean and well equipped, there was an incredibly cosy feeling to the entire hostel with the big fires and comfortable chairs. I only wish I had stayed longer here. The cats and little dog around were really sweet too and some information about them in the foyer was helpful - it felt like being at home. You can tell the owners really put an effort into their property. Also free tea and coffee! : fab.

It is Clean and tidy and well set up ! The beds are comfortable, i slept well here. Jack was a good host with lots of local knowledge Rooms: 5/5

I took my parents here for their first hostel experience. They loved it. The house is gorgeous and the facilities are more than ample for a packed house. Particularly the kitchen which is huge and has significant equipment. Rooms were clean and large. Definitely recommend.
