We entered the track from the reserve end of Chatsworth Road, with the aim of following the loop route advertised on the AllTrails app. We were lucky to have the app. The trail has several forks and, with little to no signage, we found ourselves frequently checking we were still on trail. Even still, we managed somehow to leave the trail without realising and spent several minutes relying on our GPS to get back on track. The track is narrow in most places, uneven underfoot, and we had to navigate dog poo as well. But the three stars are all for the beautiful and varied surroundings in the reserve. At times bracken and bare trees, at other times mature trees, damp and dark fern gullies, fungi and streams. Despite the dog poop and navigation challenges, the track was memorable. The constantly changing scenery made it feel like several different walks rolled into one. The lack of signage means it’s probably not a track we’d rush back to - but it’s certainly one we won’t forget.
Very secluded. Definitely the less visited bushwalking track. Narrow & muddy at the start, and you can hear the noise from the traffic and someone lawnmowing throughout,nbut once you reach the bottom inside the deeper part of the woods at the bottom, it becomes very quiet and very lush.
