This is a great well maintained bush walk. Lots of different trails that are easy to access and suitable for all able bodied people, adults and children.nReally nice native bush and heaps of bird life. The forests are more open than normal mixed native bush. Which look like black beech trees, which make for a lovely open feeling forest. You'll see fungi and other cool things if you look out for them.nOther than the Manuka Track which has a rather steep section of steps it's just hilly undulating terrain.nWe walked up the Witako Reserve track which is an unmarked and less maintained track but great for a bit of exploring. Be aware I don't think it loops back.nThere are seats dotted around and a full sized picnic table for a nice spot to eat.nWe saw about a dozen Tui and a Rosella also heard a number of other species of birds.nAll and all a great place to walk and fun for the whole family. Not too challenging but heaps to see and experience here.
This is a wee gem of a reserve - with quite a discrete entrance! You drive past it like we did for years not knowing we could venture up into mature beech forest. Tucked up against a residential area you’ll head the usual neighbourhood sounds but metres in you’ll also hear plenty of birdsong and feel like you are deep in the Remutaka Range. You can easily cover the two loop tracks in around half an hour. Plenty of seats dotted all the way through to pause and breathe it all in.
Great walk, plenty of shade, as long as u want it to be, not too hard, not too well sign posted, use Google maps to find it or u can drive right by like I did , only 2 car parks but plenty of street parking near by. Recommended.
Lovely small bush track. Good 20 min walk.nNot suitable for cyclists which makes it a peaceful track to walk. Steep in places. Look out view is currently overgrown
