WESTFIELD RICCARTON REVIEWnnFirst question: What does “Westfield” even mean???nIs it a field… in the west? A lifestyle? A state of mind? A warning? No one knows. Some people say that scholars are still debating it!!!!!!!nnAnyway, onto the review.nn 3 stars.nWhy? Because there are approximately 7 million people inside at all times. I went in for some new headphones and got it very efficient trip.nnDeals?nYeah… they’re fine. Like, “I guess I’ll buy this because I’m already here and emotionally exhausted” kind of fine. Very handy for grabbing the odd thing. Standard mall behaviour.nnKmart products.nLook, I’m just saying they are very bad for the Environment but VERY cheap, so lose-lose scenario, I guess. Not exactly besties with the environment.nnBUT... to be clear, I love China . No issues there. Just maybe look after the environment a bit better, and don't burn your coal power plants to make some cheap plastic thing?????nnHighlight of the trip:nThe escalator.nSmooth. Reliable. Takes you places. Honestly carried the whole experience. Give that thing a raise.nnParking:nAbsolute chaos sometimes. Felt like I was competing in a survival game. One wrong move and you’re circling for 20 minutes questioning your life choices.nnOverall:nJust your average mall…nBUT probably one of the better ones in Christchurch, still impressive.nnYours in retail analysis,nExecutive Mall Adjudicator of CHCHnODTnn༘˚⋆ ⋆ ⋆ .˚
It would be cool if there were seats. Spending up large and I'm sat on the floor opposite rodd and gunn where there is plentyyyyy of room for chairs etc. my back hurts. I don't wanna stand around in shops all day.
A place where you go in for “one quick thing” and somehow emerge four hours later carrying bubble tea, a bag you don’t remember buying, and children who have suddenly forgotten how legs work.nnTo be fair, it’s actually a solid mall these days. Warm in winter, heaps of food options, and enough shops that you can convince yourself wandering aimlessly counts as productivity. Half of Christchurch seems to end up there the second the weather turns average.nnExcellent people watching too. Teenagers travelling in packs. Parents negotiating with overtired children outside the food court like hostage mediators. At least one dad sitting silently outside Glassons questioning every decision that led him there.nnThe real challenge is the amount of walking involved. By the third lap from Farmers to the food court and back, kids suddenly develop a dramatic limp despite sprinting perfectly fine five minutes earlier. Honestly, the mall could probably do with some better shoe stores for that sort of mileage.nnParking on weekends still feels like a competitive sport, but overall hard to complain. Especially when you accidentally leave with snacks from Japan Mart you absolutely didn’t need.
Easy parking - Athletes Foot is an amazing shoe store, I was looking for shoes for my elderly mum that are light with Velcro, but they didn't have it but they pointed me in the right direction, the staff are so professional & helpful.nThe Mall has Plenty of room for walking around. Worth visiting this Mall, by far my favorite Mall. Feels safe too, lots of security around , lots of exists & most importantly great coffee shop .nHighly recommended
