Wairakei is a classic resort, amazing heated pool and good outdoor facilities for families, The rooms are clean and the hotels is in a great location. The price point is great. The hotel is great with bigger family groups too playground, tennis court etc. We loved the warm pools!nnThere are definitely a few issues with the rooms. We could smell the Sulphur but I am guessing that was just to do with the location and not the hotel itself. We had to open the doors for the smell to go out.nnA couple of rooms were quite tired for us on our stays. Better mattresses and phone systems would do the job.nnThe highlight of the trip was the food served at the hotel as well as the staff. The restaurant, bar and the reception staff went out of the way to serve and get us with what we wanted. The old fashions, Wines were good, the food Lunch and dinner was great and we also got delivery from the Taupō town centre with heaps of options.nnThe staff was extremely kind! That's why a four star for me! Bottom line the smell needs to be taken care of.
Good location, about 6 km outside of Taupo, near a lot of amenities. Chalets are a bit dated, hence the 3 star. Charge extra for the decent coffee at breakfast??. Cleaning of chalet excellent. Staff very nice. My only crib is the dated chalets, with no air conditioning only stand alone fans.
We stayed 3 nights. This is our observation over this time. Cleaning staff fantastic a big plus nothing to difficult. Breakfast staff & reception staff also fantastic great help. Both pools nice and warm highly recommend. Spa and suna inviting beautiful gardens. Breakfast not bad except boiled Eggs not cooked also Bacon like leather. Rooms badly outdated also beds need replacing got sore back. Please bring it back to it's former glory and we stay more. Thank you staff.
We booked in for 3 nights and 4 days during Winter. It's cozy without being pretentious.nOur room was a good size for two adults and a preschooler. Buffet breakfast was pleasant and the lagoon pool was awesome, we really enjoyed that too.nI really like that the grounds are spacious with children's play area too. We will be returning for another stay sometime in the future.
Loxated just outside Taupo. This location is handy to must see thermal activities in the area. The location itself also has a golf course attached to it. Reception welcome was friendly and informative.nThe rooms was comfortable and clean. Shower had good pressure. Breakfast the next day was plentiful and well laid out.
