The location of the resort is just a little bit out of town which makes it the perfect romantic spot for a weekend getaway. We were very excited for the outdoor heated pools, use of sauna, gym and spa. These were all fabulous and so much variety available for our use. Also to note there are some great walking areas out back of resort.nOn the day we arrived we were greeted by a very busy reception, which was all good but the check-in felt particularly rushed, and we were not acknowledged as Accor gold members, which is usually a pretty standard practice when staying at any Accor site, as well as letting us know of the free drinks etc.nWe were placed in what I feel was the oldest part of the resort 400 Wing. Our room was very standard, comfy bed, amazing shower, delicious toiletries, but a terribly cold room. I feel the heating systems should be upgraded in these room, we unfortunately had to go and buy a heater to warm up our room.nRooms have very little soundproofing, so you can hear everything in the hallway, creaky floorboards and all. Walls in between rooms are particularly bad, bad nights sleep both nights due to all night conversations and showers running in the early hours of the morning.nWe were very happy with the food for dinner and breakfast, service was faultless.nWas really happy to have on site EV charging, this was a great selling point for us.nOverall a good stay, but could have been a bit better. Happily recommend to others.
We loved our time at Wairakei Resort however felt the room needed some TLC. The bathroom vanity was all chipping away and wallpaper peeling. The beds were so uncomfortable, incredibly springy, it felt as though we were sleeping on a trampoline! The noise on the particular evening we stayed was also significant both in the foyer and above us. Otherwise a beautiful stay with a lovely family feel, staff were so lovely and inviting and food was exceptional. The grounds were beautifully cared for and the spa / sauna facility was well kept!
Our room was right across from the pool, which was great. However we found the latches on the windows were tampered with and we couldn't block out the road noise completely. Bathroom great size, T.V way too small for my liking. Bedding too thin & light. The restaurant/bar was amazing, we decided to head down after a swim in the hot pool and have a couple of drinks and dessert, staff were amazing, comfortable seating and good size T.V. Buffet breakfast was good.
We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed our time in and around Taupo. The accommodation had alot for families and the thermal pools were great. The whole facility is abit dated but still clean and well maintained.
A special place for our family nnWairakei Resort has been a special place for me since I was a child, and it was so lovely to come back with my own family and see that it is still such a wonderful place to visit.nnFrom the moment we arrived, the service was fantastic. The staff were genuinely friendly, welcoming and helpful, which made our stay feel really enjoyable.nnOur room was nice, comfortable and quiet, and we had a very relaxing stay. The kids absolutely loved the playground and had so much fun exploring and walking around the beautiful resort grounds. They also loved the lovely pools and had such a great time swimming.nnOne of the things I love most about Wairakei is that it feels like more than just a hotel. There is so much space for families to enjoy, and it is lovely being able to walk around the grounds, enjoy the facilities and let the kids explore.nnIt was really special being able to share a place that I have enjoyed since childhood with my own children. After all these years, Wairakei Resort is still a place I would happily return to and recommend to other families.nnThank you to all the wonderful staff for making our stay so enjoyable. We had such a lovely family holiday and can't wait to come back again!
