After reading some reviews here I was terrified. However the stay proved to be just fine! When we entered the room, there was some smell of mould and after a couple of hours, also of urine. All this time the AC was running but the smell was actually coming from it. So we turned it off and there was no smell anymore! No mold, no urine! So try this if you find yourself in the situation.nOther than that when you arrive at the hotel, it does seem deserted, but call the number and follow the instructions. The rooms are actually located behind. We thought we were alone but there were other guests!nIt's a good value find, clean and comfortable. Maybe not all rooms are the same? Anyway try turning off the AC!
Stayed here over the weekend. Easy enough to find. Place could do with some TLC but we saw owners rushing around doing some so no doubt will look even better soon.nRoom was musty but we aired it out. Some renovations looked unfinished and mould quite apparent.nKids loved their beds upstairs and our bed was super comfy.nPower Points could do with securing to wall fully and the swingset at playground could do with seeing to as well - the beam at top is splitting.nPeople we dealt with at service desk so lovely and smiling. Reasonably priced. Close to town. Spa out back surprises touch. Shower pressure amazing. Wifi pretty good.
A bit daggy. Lack of powerpoints and bedside lights. No extraction fan in the bathroom. The place is very run down. I only give credit for the location. It may not appeal to everyone, but the old timber shacks make it feel like a little ghost town. Good photo opportunity.
Very disappointing. Upon arrival it felt like we had arrived in dead mans land. The accomdation looks nothing like tge photos and i suspect the photos of the website have been AI altered. We did not stay and have asked @booking.com for a full refund. The rooms are not clean and not up to New ZEALAND standards. There is no cooking utensils or pans or pots. There is chipped and marked spots all over the place and feels more like a cheap backpackers, although backpackers are of better standard. The carpet feels dirty, the entrance is not clean or up to standard. The website does not reflect the accomdation. Disappointing!
The paint quality in the room was horrible. The room made me feel like I'm in an abandoned house. Wifi was not stable and my phone signal was not strong too. Only bathroom was renovated so if you put more value on clean bathroom, then you can try it. Overall most of the accommodations in Taupo are over priced compared to the quality so don't expect too much.
