Thunderbird Cafe serves up an incredible menu of authentic Southern, Cajun, & Tex-Mex cuisine with everything made fresh in house daily.

Story

Thunderbird Cafe is a fun, kitschy little cafe in the heart of the CBD on Featherston Street between Brandon and Panama Streets.

Often imitated but never duplicated, we serve up a fabulous mix of Tex-Mex and Southern American cuisine with a Kiwi twist. We make everything in house from scratch daily, including smoking all our meats. All of the flavor with none of the pretension.

Average cafe, average curly fries & calamari. Nice menu selection & also cabinet food. Popular at Thursday lunch time. Convenient location, smokers tables & ashtrays outside on the footpath. Attentive staff.

Nice ambience with welcoming, helpful and friendly staff. Principally Mexican food is great, in sensible portion sizes at reasonable prices. Maybe a little more noisy than ideal.
It’s so hard to find a place for breakfast in Wellington that’s reasonably priced but also where the portions are big too. The staff were super friendly, the music was great and food super yummy too! Will defo be back

Awesome space and I really appreciate the fantastic keto options they have. The scramble with spicy chorizo is SO GOOD! Love the slices they stock from the little Keto Bakery, I hope they stock the doughnuts one day too. Heaps of seating and great coffee. What more could you want??
