Story

Machete Coffee was conceived on the streets of New York City, nurtured under the fiery volcanos of Antigua Guatemala, and finds a place to stand in Wellington NZ.

Origin is important to us, people matter, great coffee makes us happy.

Been popping in here for a couple months now. Comfortably the best espresso that I know in town, with a delightful rotating guest bean for fellow enthusiasts. I have also tried a veganised avocado smash and it was gorgeous. Can't recommend this place enough, especially their gorgeous head of marketing near the door.
Coffee was nice but a bit pricey for the size. Large looks more like a medium.Service: 4/5
Oh wow!! This place did not disappoint . Heard about it a couple of years back but didn't get chance to try before I moved out of working in the CBD, and then covid hit. Atmosphere buzzing, service first class and the food . Tasty, filling and fresh. Strawberry Shrubs were also on point. Will be back very soon . Thanks team

Love this place. Fantastic coffee and friendly staff. Finally had the chance to try the food today and was fresh, tasty and well presented. Edit: back again 11 months later. Coffee, food and service all still brilliant!

One of the best cafes in Wellington and certainly my favourite. It's got everything going for it: Amazing coffee variety, delicious treats, a sublime atmosphere, fantastic staff and a seriously cute little doggo!
Simply said—this is the best place around. It is a known as a destination for great coffee in an over-caffeinated capital. I've yet to have anything less than a perfectly-made coffee at Machete; an act that is truly appreciated because the coffee itself is incredible. On top of their wonderful beverages, their service is fantastic. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to help. Highly recommended.
Used to be one of my favourite places for a hot drink, mainly due to the atmosphere and the service. Unfortunately, the last couple of times I’ve visited left much to be desired. In my most recent visit, the lady at the counter got my order wrong -which is completely human. However, when the order arrived with normal milk - when I had mentioned a couple of times that I’d like almond milk - a staff member came back to say that I hadn't ordered almond milk. Upon clarification, the staff member returned and I waited for another 20 minutes or so only to get the wrong drink altogether. Again, you could say it was a trying day for the staff. However, the lady looked annoyed and shook her head when I mentioned I’d ordered a hot chocolate and went back to the counter. I waited for another 5 minutes with no apology or update on my order. I walked up to the counter only to be ignored by all three staff members. I called out to the lady who said it’s coming and was quite dismissive. Mistakes happen, however, I was made to feel like a nuisance for wanting the drink I had paid for. A little kindness and communication goes a long way.
Consistently good coffee prob in my top 10 in wellington
