This is a masterclass on how to run a cafe! The interior is super cool with expansive seating available. We didn’t have any issues getting a table & felt instantly welcome when we were greeted. The staff exude professionalism and absolutely carve up their role in the machine. It was really impressive. Coffee was 10/10, perfectly balanced and made with care. I had the mushrooms which was a generous serving, succulent & a taste sensation. They sat on a piece of grainy bread with a poached egg on top. As a big cafe head, I was stoked to visit Prefab & highly recommend it to those looking for a great meal out.
Architecturally a beautiful designed space. Large open plan with plenty of seating. Wheelchair and stroller accessible. Washrooms too. Great homemade sourdough breads and they can slice them for you. Service is friendly and helpful. Coffee good and breakfast yum
I love their coffee crema - lovely roast and creamy. The service is prompt and friendly, the space is open and would be an easy place to set up for a wee while and get some work done. I had bacon and poached eggs which were good.
I have been going to this place for years, and it’s safe to say that this is a Wellington Institution. Pleasant atmosphere, good food with consistently good coffee is enough reason to visit.
I loved the outdoor seating options with all the little trees and plants. We were served quickly and our waitress was very helpful when we had questions about the menu. Had the salad, which was absolutely divine.
Wonderful spot to have a meal or just a drink. The atmosphere is vibrant and buzzy with very attentive waiting staff. Highly recommend a visit. I have not been to this wonderful cafe since covid hit and the changed hours. Needless to say on my visit today I was not disappointed, we were greeted by the always charming Brigit who sorted out a table for us and got our drinks organised. We had the fish and chips with a lovely salad and a pot of tea. The meal was tasty and fresh, the tea was made in a pot with real chamomile flowers, it was wonderful. Service is just as good as it has always been. Still highly recommend this.
Anna was prompt and very pleasant despite it being packed....who would have guessed on a Monday morning. Watch out for parking wardens
Today was the first day back after the Christmas break. Staff were clearly well rested and focused on the customers. It amazes me how busy the cafe is yet how fluidly it runs. We had a couple of coffees each and basic counter snacks. Pricing is in line with other cafes but the coffee is excellent. Kid-friendliness: Prefab have a trolley full of entertaining children’s books. The hot chocolate and fluffy drinks are great options for the kids.
Very busy restaurant with some dynamic music as background, a bit loud for me. The food is average.Food: 3/5
Really nice-looking space, but honestly, as a visitor to the city, I think this place is a little overrated. The brunch menu was limited and the portions were on the small side. The food itself was ok, not bad not great. 20 dollars for a small portion of mushrooms and a single egg seems a bit steep to me. Some servers were friendly and others less so. I think there’s a tonne of potential here, but given the options available in the city I find it fairly mind-blowing that it’s as busy as it is.
