The Verandah Cafe & Function Centre

The Verandah Cafe is one of our favourite cafes in Hamilton.nnNo matter the season - Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter - the beautiful lake view outside the window offers a breathtaking scene every time.nnAs a well-loved local cafe, the Verandah served superb food and excellent coffee.nnWe enjoyed a wonderful lunch there today. The coffee was fantastic and the fresh ingredients really stood out. Both the fish fish and chips and chicken pulled chicken tacos were flavourful, tender, and juicy.nnA beautiful setting, delicious food, and great coffee - what more could you ask for? Highly recommended!

Loved my time at the Verandah Cafe today! Fantastic outlook onto the lake which creates a relaxing atmosphere. Great service from staff. Good coffee.nnMy only feedback was I wasn’t a big fan of coffee being served in a plastic cup and saucer when sitting in. Nothing beats coffee in a good ceramic cup! Otherwise, I look forward to coming back!nThank you.

The Flat White was smooth, well-balanced, and easy to drink. No harsh bitterness or excessive acidity, just approachable and comforting coffee. A perfect companion to the peaceful lake views.n-21/06/2026

Very disappointed re loss of 'coffee to go' order in morning walk round lake last Tuesday. After paying, given a tab and twice told to go and take a seat I assumed a bit of a wait. I went back up and let cashier know we would sit outside - she acknowledged - sunny morning. After 25 mins and seeing people who had come in after us go out with coffees I went back to counter. Order had somehow been lost, she tried to blame barista. I felt no-one was bringing any oversight to the cafe, slow service, barista very busy. Cafe not overly busy. Asked did I want a refund, I said no, we came in for coffees - made immediately and delivered by waitress along with another apology.nVerandah is a beautiful setting and should hum, never seems to. I go by and try regularly, issue is definitely the service for me. Last week's experience though particularly bad. Later in week, back to Fresca cafe, nearby for fast good service and lots of hum.

My family and I went for lunch yesterday for my mothers birthday. There was 11 of us and the staff were very accommodating. The staff member we spoke to at the counter immediately set us up a long table with glasses and water while assuring us it was no hassle.nThe soup was gooda very big portion. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals too. They let my mother order the kids fish and chips which was very nice.nOur drinks were brought to us very quickly after ordering.nThey let us bring in a cake and even brought us small plates and forks to eat it with along with a knife to cut it.nVery welcoming staff even when my grandson was crying.nWill definitely be back one day soon to try some more stuff on the menu.
