Great food, large portions and big prices for mains. The cod cpuld have been fresher, but the ribs were excellent. Everyone had a great time and the service was very good. We had a table of 15 on a busy day and the wait was reasonable. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: Vegan burger, vegan soup, vegetarian filo options Dietary restrictions: Gluten free prawns/lamb/chicken, dairy free ribs, options available.
Beautiful place to start a rainy day on Kaikōura. The food and beverages were superb, full of flavors and texture. Go without hesitation : hot chocolate, Heirloom tomato& avo and Puhoi goat cheese toast, Sime's signature braised ham hock egg hollandaise!! The staff super friendly and polite!! You'll love this place!!
First visit here, love the prawn and mussels they were so amazingly good. Had lamb and beef wellington they were delicious too. Beef wellington served with 3 baby carrots and 3.5 potatoes.. I just thought it’s too many potatoes for me good customer service.
2 visits in one week while visiting Nelson because of the mussels. So delicious, great white garlic chilli sauce. It was yummy! Wish I could take home with me. The team are also nice! Thank you chef.
Great food always, good to come here with a group of people and have a yarn. Steak was nicely done and appetisers Prawn twists and pizza were good. Pina Colada mocktail so yommy!!! I'd down like 5 of those if they were free. Cute pineapple glass too
Always a pleasure at Speights, it was busy when we arrived and staff were quick to tell us that there was a significant wait on food which was appreciated, but dispite that, the service was great and our food was delivered in under the time they estimated. Would always recommend
Good spot for a few beers. Soup was yummy when I went, although more bread would have been nice. But the piece I got was yummy also. I had a Speights mid ale, 2.5% beer, as I was driving, which was very nice also. I'm not a regular, but I will definitely go back again.Food: 4/5
We have been to Seights several times in the past and loved it, I would definitely recommend for drinks and snack food. Do NOT waste your time going for dinner. My partner booked a family dinner for my birthday late July. We were seated upstairs as 1 of the 3 long tables. It should be noted that one of those groups left shortly after we arrived and the other received their food within 30 mins of us arriving all 3 tables has the same number of guests, approx 14 people. We were told on arrival at 6:30pm that there's a 1 hour wait in food. It took them half an hour to come take our orders at 7pm. Our meals then took 1.5 hours to arrive.... so all up 2 hours between arriving and seeing our food. Everyone felt their meals were below average over cooked, rubbery etc... everyone except my daughter whose meal they forgot completely!! She was offered a free meal.... with another 1 hour wait to receive it. The ladies at the payment desk did kindly remove the cost for one of our meals, but once we factor in the extra rounds of drinks ordered while we waited hungrily for 2 hours, we really weren't any better off!! We will never bother with dinner here again! They should just stick to what they do best, nice atmosphere downstairs, drinks and nibbles!!!
Not great!! Family & I went on a wet June Sunday for a birthday drink to watch the netball final. I specifically went in earlier to book a table with the comfortable seating, good view of screen and asked if they could put netball on that tv at that time. No worries.... Came back at 4pm and netball was on all tvs... The reservation was on a table right under the tv see photo. We couldn't sit there as couldn't see tv without straining our necks! another group had the table I requested We moved and asked if league could be on the other tv for the men - "sorry we can only play one channel" There are about five screens, we've been in the past and pretty sure there was various sport on before?? Bought a bottle of bubbles, but they had no flutes just standard wine glasses. ‍‍ Apparently they're all broken & waiting for more. No one came to offer water or ask if we wanted anything like snacks or a top up. The kids ordered a couple bowls of fries that cost $16.90 & $15.90!! Service was poor, like no one wanted to be there. Despite all the negatives we made the most of our time... but we wouldn't go out of our way to go there again. The photo is of the table they reserved for us to watch netball, right under the screen. I took it from the table I expected. we transitioned there for the last half hour when the other party left!
Fish and chips were soggy, salad warm and mashed potatoes cold. Not sure how they cooked their food but nothing was good, including their beer. For the price of the food even service was slow.
