We came for a chilled Thursday night pub meal & a beer and weren't disappointed! Very impressed with the menu with plenty of options for all tastes. The fish & chips were excellent! Crispy batter and fresh fish with a scrummy side salad and excellent fries. Would recommend! The staff were excellent and engaging. We sat inside, but there was also ample seating outside which is perfect for a sunny evening. I'll definitely head back to The Redoubt next time I'm in Te Awamutu!
Two of us ordered the chicken supreme. Chicken was very dry tasted old. Potatoes were definitely reheated some parts scorching hot and the whole meal was way over seasoned with pepper. Did not finish both. Gave to teenager to finish off he'd literally eat anything. Service was lovely and the atmospher. Unfortunately would never dine back there again being our first and last.
We have just been for lunch and two out of the five meals were ok. The service was shocking. Not once did they ask if food was ok, didn't even offer dessert menu. When I paid not even a how was your meal. Seriously if you can't ask or see when people arrive and want a drink and be happy smiley then you shouldn't work in hospitality.
Can’t fault this place. After I mentioned that my meal wasn’t hot, they replaced/heated it and offered me a glass of Prosecco, on the house….admitting they made a mistake. I had the pan fried fish with roasties. Charlotte, our waitress, was absolutely outstanding. Very caring and couldn’t apologise enough, for the mistake. She was awesome. Hubby had the pork ribs…he loved it. Oh and the portions are big. Keep that in mind. Loved the atmosphere too. This place comes highly recommended.
