I looked up a bunch of cafes online, shortly after moving back to Auckland just before Christmas. My partner and I had the fortune of finding this gem of a cafe in Morningside. The pies we had here were AWESOME. A couple of the best pies we've ever had! Sausage roll, banh mi roll, and coffee are all top-notch too! Looking forward to our next visit :-
Been hanging around this place since they opened. Never had a bad meal yet. Their pie game is legendary and they have other great lunch options. Think of a gourmet lunch bar but better. Beautiful spot to sit in the sun on a nice day like today. Sterling Arnet Kakapo Business Sales
Nice n cozy cafe. Serving Kokako organic coffee, which is always Food: 5/5
They don't care about sustainability at all - takeaway cups only, no fair trade coffee and their sign blames environmental / animal welfare laws for egg and dairy shortages. Good sweet treats though
This was a surprising find, it's more of a pass-by lunch bar than an actual sit in and dine eatery, but there's still some seating outside and some high chairs inside. The food are your casual pies and sandwiches sort of pick, but they're of really good quality. I got the steak and mushroom pie and they have actual chunky pieces of steak in them, with big slices of button mushrooms. They've also got a cute little garden area down the back with more seating. Would definitely come back .
This is not a bad spot to grab a quick lunch if you're on the go. The gyoza was not bad pork and chives, by the way , and the pies are pretty good. Would really love it if there were some more salad options. It's hard to get excited about, but I do like the stuff I get from here, especially if I'm just looking for a quick light lunch or bite.
Their Savory Scones are SO GOOD! Honestly the best I have ever had and I have tried A LOT. I love their chicken burritos! Super tasty however I do wish they were made so much bigger as they are quite tiny.
About an year ago I started on my new job in the area and was searching for a good coffee place due to past experiences. After spending a good deal of time and money on surrounding coffee shops I stumbled upon this cute little Cafe and boy have I been a satisfied client for almost a year now. So yeah this review was pending for a while . Some great savory items, amazing coffee the attending staff is always very kind. Either I am lucky or some great barrista skills I never had a coffee which was overheated or burnt even when I have my coffee in Almond milk which is sensitive to high remperatures. Must try, this is a great little Cafe and I am certain you will be impressed. We'll done team and keep it up
Googled good pies in my area and this place came up. Bought a chicken and leek pie. The pastry is really good but the filling was bland and chicken overcooked. Couldn't taste leek at all. At $8.50 each I wouldn't buy from there again but have given three stars for excellent pie pastry.
While visiting Auckland for our Anniversary we googled best donuts in Auckland and we found great reviews about The Mustard Kitchen. After missing the turn off to Morningside Rd we eventually found the cafe. Super friendly staff and the donuts didn’t disappoint. We also had a pie which was delicious. And as we chatted to the lovely person who served us and telling him where we had come from we got a free sample of their famous caramel slice - heavenly. Thank you The Mustard Kitchen!
