The Hotel Nelson

Stayed here twice recently, room upstairs by reception was lovely and spacious with full kitchen and bathroom. Stayed for 5 nights so was a nice comfortable room for a longish stay. Second stay was in a smaller room at the back of the property but fine for a 3 night stay. Only improvement would be having access from the front rather than having to take suitcase and bags all the way around the back of the room.nRestaurant is superb! Service couldn't be faulted and the meals were amazing.

Arrived on a beautiful Nelson day, sunny with clear blue sky. The room was spotlessly clean kudos to the cleaners. Reception couldn’t be more helpful, the restaurant was fully booked but I wasn’t surprised as I have dined here before and had an excellent meal, the location is so close to the city I had no problem. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, a few on bbq, couples on their decks and small gatherings it felt like it was humming. Plenty of parking and lots of space.

We really enjoyed our stay. We had the one bedroom apartment which suited our family of 4 well. The beds were comfortable, everything was clean. Service from reception was lovely and the restaurant food suited all ages and reasonably priced.

Staff are so friendly, professional and helpful. Apartment a great size but a bit dated. Location is perfect! Close to everything!!

Initially booked for only one night as last minute decided to come a day early, I'd booked 4 nights at another hotel, but liked the convenience of being able to park right outside our room especially with the rain we had all weekend, unlike the other place were We would have to pay for parking. Thankfully staff were very accomadating to us wanting to stay for an extra 4 nights and were able to make it work. We just had to check out on the Sunday and recheck into another room.nRoom service and staff were all lovely, only criticism I'd give is that the rooms held alot of moisture with no HRV system to reduce this. This must be the contribution to the build up of mould on all windowsills and along the grout in the showers. The restaurant on site was very delightful, and the staff members were just A class hosts.nThe only part of our stay that bothered me was the fact we were told to check out on the Sunday, check back in after 2 in another room. We made sure we'd woken up early enough to be out in time and packed up all out belongings the night before. When we came back later to check back in the staff member told us that we were still in the same room and seemed to have no idea what was going on even tho he was the one who we Initially spoke to regarding staying longer and making it work for us. I was a bit annoyed at the fact we put the effort into leaving, packing our belongings back into our car and checking out. Then was more or less dismissed over the fact we didn't actually have to leave in the first place.nAll in all this is a lovely comfortable and convenient place to stay, we would deffinitly stay here again.
