Rutherford Hotel Nelson

Clean, quiet and comfortable room, with amazing views through a panoramic window. We were on 7th floor room 714.nThe room had everything we needed. If we wanted anything the staff immediately responded to our request.nWe had a snack in the restaurant and one breakfast, not brilliant food unfortunately.nExcellent location for all of Nelson town.

Disappointed considering it’s a Heritage hotel. Expectations were higher. Building and room interior is dated and needs some renovation.nOne lift isn’t in service at the moment. Some nicer touches like body wash instead of soap cakes would be nice. I would not recommend this place for families. The beds are comfortable though.

Absolutely terrible service, and I would never recommend this hotel. We booked a three-night stay to celebrate our anniversary and attend our daughter's dance competition. Unfortunately, due to severe weather, all flights were canceled, and the next available flights were two days later, which meant our daughter missed her competition. I initially called the hotel to ask if there is any possibility of a refund, but they directed me to the booking platform. I visited the booking site, where customer service advised me to contact the hotel for a review process and provided a waiver for a potential refund; otherwise, without that, according to their cancellation policy, a refund seemed unlikely. When I called the hotel again to explain our situation, the representative hung up on me while I was on hold waiting for a manager. I called back, and the duty manager was unhelpful and showed no compassion, simply telling me to return to the booking platform. I expressed my frustration that both the hotel and the platform were passing me back and forth, but it didn’t resolve anything. I then asked the hotel manager to provide me with a written explanation of the refund process from the booking platform, as I had received conflicting information from both the hotel and the platform. I planned to forward this information to the platform and copy him in, so everyone could discuss and review my situation together and ensure that we were all on the same page. However, he was reluctant to assist me at all. Didn't get any refund back, very 'impressive service & help' for our anniversary.

The hotel is looking very tired and in need of an upgrade. In saying that the location great, the staff friendly, professional, genuine. Our room was a corner which had views of the town. Bed was comfy though, bathroom you stepped into a bath for a shower. Parking on street was free or you could pay $10 inside the hotel prems. Buffet breakfast was nice and views of the park.

We are locals to Nelson buy heard of there awesome buffet breakfast. I've been there a few times now, and the services was always great and the food really yummy. Especially the bacon!
