Story

Not just the first Cat Cafe in Auckland, but the first of its kind in the whole country!!

Come enjoy award winning coffee and fresh baked treats in the company of 20 friendly rescued cats & kittens!

The public got behind our project in a massive way and we raised over $35,000 to help with the costs of launching NZ's First Cat Cafe.

As a direct result of this campaign we have partnered with FRISKIES & A local cat rescue "Gutter Kitties". A No-Kill organisation dedicated to the rescue and care of stray and abandoned cats and kittens in Auckland.

The Cat Lounge donates its unsold food items to the Salvation Army.

We organise and host fundraising events for our chosen charity and we have a display in store with cats available for adoption.

We work with local resthomes and disability support groups to bring smiles & kitty cuddles to those who need it the most.

We think its the right thing to do, to help those in need and give something back to the community.

Based in Auckland and spread over 200+sq metres, The Cat Lounge has a modern fit-out and relaxed atmosphere. Half of our site is run like a normal café, serving locally sourced & award winning fresh roasted espresso coffee and a range of delicious treats baked fresh in store each day.

The other half of our building is a cat lovers dream! Big comfy couches, free wifi, fully stocked book shelves, Huge TV playing movies & the best and funniest cat clips we can find, and of course home to 20 of the cuddliest, smoochiest cats and kittens around, who were all rescued cats through Lonely Miaow. The room is filled with plenty of toys for the cats ( & People! ) cat runways & platforms on the walls, scratching posts, pillows & Cat Beds to crash out on when there is no more energy left to play.

The welfare of our cats is our top priority. We have regular vet checkups to make sure they are happy & healthy.The living area for the cats is like a huge playground for them. They can literally climb the walls, play with toys or curl up on a beanbag and snooze. The cats also have their own space where they can get away from people if they need some peace and quiet.

For food hygiene reasons, the kitchen & café areas are kept separated from the cats rooms so all of our food and drinks are prepared in a cat - free environment. All our food is available for dine-in or take-away, & you have the option to take coffee and snacks through into the cats room if you wish.
