The atmosphere was good but the food was a little disappointing. Sourdough bread was too hard and tough, and the rice cake in Korean fried chicken was same.nThe lime mocktail I ordered didn't have any trace of lime so I asked to the server if the order was right. She sounded she hasn't made it before, but insisted to make a new one for me. She swapped the drink two more times and finally said that is it.nI think I might not come back again as I don't want to feel like a lab rat again.
The food was tasty, but the whole service was disappointing and shocking.nnStaff rushed to take our order immediately after we sat down — three different staff members approached us within a minute, leaving little time to read the menu. There also seemed to be limited product knowledge of the ingredients e.g., they did not know what was in the chorizo they served.nnI ordered the Full Patch Grill with boiled eggs, but was served poached eggs cooked in plastic wrap instead. I brought the dish to the counter to raise my concerns, and was returned and told to continue eating while they prepared replacement eggs. Should have served with a whole completed dishnnAfter waiting around 20 minutes and almost finishing my meal, the staff member who originally took my order came around looking confused between my table and others, asking if anyone had ordered boiled eggs. What arrived were two whole boiled eggs still in their shells — something I’ve never been served with a cooked breakfast, as they’re usually peeled.nnThere was no acknowledgement of the mix-up and no apology. It felt like the priority was taking orders rather than providing service. The lack of ownership and professionalism overshadowed the meal.nnI was planning to order more food and drinks, but decided to leave, as I did not enjoy my breakfast experience — even though the food itself was great but not completed.
Patch Cafe turned out to be a really solid place to visit, and after spending some proper time there, I’d land confidently on a 4 star rating. The moment you walk in, the place has this lively, welcoming vibe that makes you feel like you’re in the right spot for a good meal. The food itself was genuinely nice. Everything tasted fresh, well prepared, and made with a bit of care rather than just thrown together. It wasn’t over the top or trying to be fancy for the sake of it. It was just good, honest cafe food done well, which is exactly what most people want when they go out. The real surprise was how quickly everything came out. Even though the cafe was packed with people, the kitchen kept things moving smoothly. That speed really matters, especially if you’ve got kids with you or you’re popping in during a lunch break.nnThe coffee was another standout. It was smooth, balanced, and just strong enough to give you that proper morning lift without being bitter. There’s something about a cafe that gets the coffee right. It just sets the tone for the whole visit. Patch Cafe definitely knows what it’s doing in that area. It’s the kind of coffee you’d happily order again without a second thought.nnParking, on the other hand, was definitely the biggest frustration. It took longer than expected to find a spot, and that can be a bit annoying when you’re already hungry or trying to wrangle kids. You sort of do a few loops, hope for the best, and eventually land something. It’s not the cafe’s fault, but it does affect the overall experience. Once you’re inside though, the atmosphere makes up for it. The place is busy, full of movement and conversation, and clearly a favourite for locals. That busyness tells you the food and service are good, but it also means you need to be ready for a lively environment rather than a quiet, slow-paced brunch.nnOne thing Patch Cafe absolutely gets right is how family friendly it is. The kids play area is genuinely awesome. It’s clean, safe, and gives children something fun to focus on while the adults get a moment to enjoy their meal without rushing. Not many cafes offer a space like that, and for parents, it really does make all the difference. That alone lifts the whole experience and makes Patch Cafe stand out.nnIt’s also worth mentioning the difference between weekdays and weekends. Weekdays feel calmer and easier, both inside the cafe and in the surrounding area. Weekends, however, are on another level. The place gets much busier, parking gets tighter, and the overall noise and movement go up quite a bit. It’s still enjoyable, but definitely something to keep in mind depending on the kind of outing you want.nnOverall, Patch Cafe delivers tasty food, great coffee, friendly and fast service, and one of the best kids play areas around. If parking were easier and the weekend rush wasn’t so intense, it could easily push into 5 star territory. Even so, it’s absolutely worth visiting and offers a really enjoyable experience for families and anyone looking for a good meal.
Called to make a reservation for my son’s birthday 30 minutes before and the guy on the phone was absolutely lovely and very friendly!nnHe suggested the table upstairs would suit us well as it was close to the play area. He also gave us a huge table so that we could lay all of the presents out. When we arrived we were seen straight away by him and he guided us up to our table where he had arranged a high chair for my son to be sat head of the table! So cute.nnService was what it SHOULD BE and what it used to be! Smiles, friendly staff, prompt service and just a cool atmosphere!nnThe kids play area looked like a bomb had gone off in it which isn’t a criticism really because it just means there were plenty of toys and lots of fun had been had! Though I do think some toys could do with a good clean nnOverall, yummy food with a unique twist on classics, amazing service and very family friendly.nnOnly downside was the kids meal being a bit overcooked with the chicken nuggets…quite dry! But, would definitely come back here.
Patch Cafe is worth a visit, despite living on the other side of the bridge. We came for the mango sticky rice and it did not disappoint. Also had the lobster and prawn pasta which was a delicious choice, and would order this again. The place was humming and there's a good amount of seating, some outside. Would recommend.
