I went to see the exhibition of Paul Maseyk's pottery based on jugs seen in paintings by NZ artists today. It is fascinating to see Maseyk's interpretation of the jugs seen in NZ art. The representations exhibit a wide range of styles, shapes and colours. I highly recommend visiting to see the exhibit before it finishes on June 22nd, 2025.

Took the opportunity to visit the new Archie Taiaroa Wing of this Regional Museum. Reminded how art in its simplicity and complexity can inspire and leave you enthralled.nnAn excellent selection and collection of art that truly reflects the Whanganui area.nnThe central display of inanga eel pots was incredible. No surprise to see also the brilliant glass works the city is famous for. Some interesting pottery [the large teapot is gorg]... there was even an original Goldie.nnMy favourite was the steel taniko display suspended in shadows and creating patterned shadows of their own.nnDefinitely worth a visitnnKo au te Awa, ko te Awa ko aunI am the river and the river is mennJ

Beautiful NZ museum, focused almost entirely on NZ art and artists. The timeline ranges from early Colonial era to present day.nnThe new building addition is lovely, adding to the experience.

Lovely gallery featuring different modern artists' collection.nnThere is a cafe and a souvenir shop.nnFree admission.

This was an interesting visit with a fascinating exhibition of jugs inspired by paintings.nnI felt there could have been more on display but it was fun.
