Michelle is an abstract painter who loves colour and form. Her evocative paintings, large and small appear to capture moments in time whilst giving the impression they’ll continue evolving.
I am an abstract painter who lives and works in the river city of Whanganui. I hold a Bachelor of Media Arts Degree - First Class Honours.
For me, making art is an opportunity to be completely in immersed the present moment. So much so that time becomes almost irrelevant as I become absorbed in the explorative process. Working with my materials, fluctuating viscosities, environmental conditions along with my own state of being contributes to the process. Through gained knowledge and the letting go nature of chance, the watching and waiting, knowing when to act and when to stop comes the finished works. A performance captured, fluid but fixed, an exchange and a form of transformation.
I love colour and my works often include gold and metallic. Words like …. bodily, visceral, organic, nature, primordial, organic, effortless … have been used to describe my artworks which is great. My intention is that my paintings generate a feeling, or perhaps memory, or an association for the viewer rather than receiving an explicit message via representation. Or that someone just finds them interesting to look at.
