New Zealand Glassworks - Te Whare Tūhua o Te Ao (NZG) is the new national centre for glass art located in Whanganui.

NZG is an exciting and interactive glass facility open to the entire community. The new facility offers an open access studio to glass artists, runs workshops to all abilities and presents and promotes the work of leading New Zealand glass artists in the gallery. The centre is a major attraction for local visitors and tourists alike and a great place to see first-hand, the incredible processes of glass art.

Quite hot,  understandably,  as was a hot day also. Good quality pieces,  not a huge shop but varied. Would be interesting to visit every-so-often, as pieces would change. Lots of talent

This place is a must visit on your trip to Whanganui. The skill that goes into making the huge variety of beautiful art, jewellery, vases & ornaments from glass is superb. This place is an outlet for many artists to sell their work from $30 to $11,000 plus Something for everyone! You can also book a spot in a glass making class, if you are quick as the spots for the year fill up fast. There's usually a person working on making something but the day we went that person was unwell. Free street parking outside. Free entry. Wheelchair accessible to watch the glass artist at work.

Wanganui has so many little gems of a place to visit. This glass works is one of them. They have a balcony viewing platform that you can sit and watch the artist at work. Loved the amazing glass art on display. You can even take lessons here!

New Zealand Glassworks is well worth a visit when in Whanganui. The gallery features beautiful glass sculptures for sale and overlooks an impressive kiln. The hands-on workshops look like lots of fun and book out well in advance. Friendly and helpful staff.

This gallery has a nice collection of glasswork. You can view their work in process or stick around for a demonstration. Nice collectible items for purchase.

Great artwork with interesting and unique designs. The staff was also very friendly and gave us some introduction.
