MiNZ is dedicated to providing a safe, secure environment that encourages and supports local people to develop their skills and talents.
MINZ is a co-operative of local artists and craft people who have joined together to open a shop as an outlet for their goods. All goods sold in the shop must be made in New Zealand. Overseas manufactured components can be used, but the goods must be predominately New Zealand made.
Overall management is by a core group, or committee who have responsibility for making the day to day running decisions of the shop, and reporting back to the wider group of members.
The shop functions as a cohesive shop with everyone’s goods displayed together for the best advantage of the items being sold. New items arrive regularly, so it pays to keep visiting to see what is new.
Members pay a weekly rent plus a 5% of sales to cover running costs. All members are expected to participate in the roster to man the shop. We accept a small number of artists selling on commission, however this is restricted and the commission ranges upwards from 20%.
New members: Apply to join and will be interviewed by the committee before being accepted to join. The opinions of the general membership will also be considered before accepting a new member.
Handcrafts: MINZ is not a retail shop, but a craft outlet. Members are expected to be crafters and items sold by members through the shop must be substantially their own work.
