This page has been set up to provide information on Te Pā o Rākaihautū, an innovative 21st century learning village that will incorporate early childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary education on one site in Ōtautahi, Te Waipounamu.

Story

In Te Pā o Rākaihautū we aim to remove the artificial walls between early childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary education; to deeply embed our values, our stories and our places in all that we do; and to provide a truly seamless lifelong learning experience for the whole whānau.

Imagine a world where learning is exciting, challenging and meaningful; where our marae, our whenua, and our moana are the classrooms; where our kaupapa, stories and knowledge are central to the curriculum; and where our tamariki, mātua, taua and poua can learn side by side.

Imagine a world where academic attainment does not mean compromising your culture and identity; where Māori is the language of choice in the playground; where academic, sporting and cultural brilliance is the norm.

Imagine a world where all whānau are able to take up their “kō” and confidently carve out new worlds for themselves, just as Rākaihautū did. That is our vision for Te Pā o Rākaihautū.
