Stopforths Motel

Five stars for this absolute gem- spotlessly clean and modern, quiet location, well laid-out and great service Sonia is so welcoming, knowledgeable about the area and helpful. Premises are well-located within walking distance of town, with a fabulous kids’ play area in the park just across the road. The bathroom spa was an absolute treat after a great day spent exploring this beautiful location. The bed was super-comfy and we were supplied with everything we needed, from fresh milk, coffee and tea to lots of fluffy towels. Hokitika was our last stop on a driving holiday of the South Island and our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.

This was our favourite hotel during our 2 week trip. First, the location is fantastic and just a 5 min drive to the beach and shorter into town. Second, the rooms are fantastic! Everything was practical and well thought through. It was well ventilated and also had all the amenities we needed, plus everything was clean! Last, and what brought everything together is Phil and I belive his family who runs this place. He was friendly, accommodating, offered to help with our luggage, and even suggested to visit the wonderful park opposite the street. He even mentioned a free glow worm site but unfortunately we were unable to go for this.nnI would recommend this motel without reservation, especially if you need a pit stop before driving to Christchurch, though I wished we had stayed longer. Really love what Phil is doing with this place!

Family run by people who care. Modern, tasteful, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Generous size room equipt with the basics plus kitchenette. Sonja went out of her way to be helpful. Very reasonably priced.

Location convenient to everything we wanted to do. Receptionist was friendly and informative...even loaned us an umbrella. Rooms are simple and clean. Only downside is that parking in the lot is limited, but street parking is ample.

Outstanding stay. Clean and comfortable in a great location. Wish all hotel stays were like this one
