I recently had a tour of St Andrew’s Rest Home and was incredibly impressed by the Facility Manager, Angela. It is clear that she is deeply committed to treating every resident as an individual rather than just a number. As she showed me around, the green flags were everywhere, you can tell a lot by how residents react to staff, and here, they genuinely seemed to like and trust her. Her willingness to listen and her evident passion for person-centered care provided a lot of peace of mind during a difficult transition. It’s rare to find a manager so personally invested in the culture of the home
My in laws were both in care there for over four years in two units. We saw caring staff and nurses. They truly did what they could for their dementia patients in what is an extraordinarily challenging job. We were always met with a smile when visiting.nnHours before my Mother in law passed recently we wondered why her wedding rings were not on her finger. We didn’t want to accuse anyone of anything but we had to ask. Before we had a chance, one of the RNs stopped me and said “Wait, I have her rings, they are locked in the medicine cabinet.” I knew my instincts about this place were right. Good people doing good mahi.
Generally good care of my father. Had difficulty dealing with some of his changes as MND progressed though, eg when unable to press call bell. Didn’t tell us he developed pneumonia, which was what killed him. I wasn't capable at the time of making the complaint I wish I had. Phoned me when he died, not my mother. We should have been told when his health worsened.
At a time when residents are literally waiting to die, you prevent them from seeing loved ones. 2 people can visit per week, separately, for 30 mins per visit. So a wife can see her husband one hour a week and if there is more than one child, just half an hour. All visitors have to take RAT test at the door and be vaxxed, so let these poor old people see their family!!! People like this need human contact and to know they are loved at the end. Cruel to prevent visitation!! Don't put your loved one here
Disgusting provider. I've asked for my family members financial information 5 times, and they refuse to give it to me. But keep bleeding money out of his account. Seems to be a case of get them in, take the money, and it will be what it it is. Be aware !
