We are a locally owned ski and snowboard rental shop conveniently located in the heart of Queenstown.
Ski Hire NZ offers a large range of rental ski and snowboard equipment starting from budget to standard and finishing with one of the best premium ranges in town.

Amazing outdoor shop, full of wonderful gear and knowledgeable staff. An Italian gentleman apologies I forget his name helped me choose some tramping boots he was very thorough and asked a lot of questions. Outstanding customer service, happy to have spent my money in this business. Keep it up!!
Great selection of high quality gear. Specialised backcountry shop with avy gear, splits, etc. also check out the Snowboard Workshop at the back of the store if you want your gear tuned to perfection.
Possibly the best retail experience I’ve had. Went in to look at ski boots and Eddy spent the better part of an hour helping me upgrade to a K2 Mindbender. Will 100% be back for skis when I need some new ones
Excellent service and knowledge. This place is amazing from the moment you walk through the door. Very friendly crew. I only went in to ask a few questions but eventually left happily spending money with them. Some of the worlds best gear available in New Zealand. Al the touring and backcountry gear you can dream of.

I would like to say a big thank you for staff. Every time I come to Small Planet I have an excellent service. Last year Mike helped me to choose my first snowboard boots and I can't be more grateful. Awesome little big shop. All the gear for anything camping walking climbing and very reasonably priced. Very helpful staff , even with my indecisiveness buying climbing shoes.
We’ve been replacing all our gear after it was stolen over the holidays and these guys have been invaluable. Excellent product knowledge and incredibly dedicated to getting you into the right equipment and not into what gives them a big sale. They have always looked after us and it’s always the first place we visit when we need anything outdoor related. A massive thank you to Eddie and the team.

Bought a very sought after backpack which was not available anywhere else NZ or online, it appeared. SPS packaged up and sent it promptly to me in Auc. The price was great too, which made this buy a real bonus! Very happy with the service. In QT at the moment and will be visiting them shortly.
