Gorgeous setting, and very comfortable. Relaxing after an awesome walk through Zealandia. Although COVID staff shortages prevented them from offering hot food today, the pastries and coffee were just what we wanted.
Great little Cafe attached to Zealandia. There is a menu with made to order food and a display case with pre-made sandwiches and pies for about half the price of the made to order. Nice choice of seating. Food was very good and the portions were well sized, if you're a light eater you probably could split most things.Food: 5/5
They were operating on a reduced menu for New Year's Day, but the quality didn't suffer. Delicious, well presented, and didn't take too long to arrive. Great reason to fuel up before heading out on the tracks.Food: 5/5
Beautiful setting, but terribly disorganised and poorly run. Waited over 30 mins for cabinet food and soup both of which are pre made. The staff said they fulfil orders in order regardless of whether they are cabinet food or kitchen - suggest that the staff on the counter can also heat up cabinet food at the same time so that makes it faster for people who come just for cabinet food, so we don’t have to wait ridiculous amounts of time. Also when I was making my order I was shown a sign and told that there is no barista today and so they’re not taking coffee orders. When waiting for our food I noticed that coffee was being delivered to other tables and there was a barista behind the counter - but she would put up the sign every now and then!! I suppose it’s because of too many orders and can’t handle the amount but you shouldn’t lie to your customers and select who you will serve coffees to! Also, there were 3 pies in the cabinet and I noticed that the chicken pie in the cabinet had the option of $14 with fries $11 without. I asked if we could get the steak pie but with fries, and ended up being charged $16 it’s the same price $11 without fries!! Because they did it as a steak pie + a side of fries. Why are they different priced when it’s basically the same thing! Feel very ripped off. They also got our order wrong. I also asked if the soup was dairy free and they said yes. But then they go and put a swirl of sour cream on top!! Also I asked for no salt on the chips as it’s for the baby but they came salted
Nice coffee shop to visit after a good wonder in Zealandia. Or to wait at while others go for their wonder. Note: there is a 15% surcharge on public holidays, so avoid those days if that bothers you.Food: 4/5
People save your money and go somewhere else to eat. Tables look clean but we’re so sticky. Staff we’re very rude especially the girl with the long blonde hair tied up in a messy bun, when customers were upset and asked about the wait times for food - she would make faces at them as they walked away. The wait time was insane for something so small to be heated up 45mins for fries and sandwich. So disappointed. You need new staff that know how to handle themselves and work more efficiently, the cafe was not that busy for them to be falling behind as badly as they were. Maybe less time talking amongst themselves and more time getting orders out and food out. I watched as the chef put orders out on the pass ready to be taken to customers, sit there for 7-8mins while they joked amongst themselves. You guys use to be a pretty decent cafe now it’s just overpriced CRAP….
We went to Zealandia for our marriage anniversary and started our day with brunch there. The service was absolutely amazing: kindly staff, nice and prompt service. Food there was average and the portion size was ok. We ordered three mains and one dessert which just fueled us but not to a complete satisfaction. Overall it's a good experience.
Really disappointing as a local and especially for a tourist destination. The food was extremely overpriced for the portion and quality of food you get. I mean $9 for a pie and suspiciously tangy one? $25 for a tiny eggs bene, with a pitiful amount of spinach and hard bread. And $7 for a soy ice mocha with white milk clumps all over, how is that not unappetising? I’m not expecting fancy food and I get that it’s not a dedicated cafe but please don’t overcharge for this meal. The sanctuary is so great and amazing that the cafe experience does not deserve being a part of the experience.
Nice to sit down after a walk around the grounds of Zealandia for a coffee & snackFood: 5/5
Don’t bother coming here. Poorly managed cafe! After queueing for more than 20minutes, we were only told at the counter that half of the items on the menu were not available. They also decided to close the coffee sections although we see a lot of coffees got delivered to other tables. we later found out one of the food we ordered ended up did not get into the system at all, and the other one was cancelled and refunded. We tried queueing again but it was taking too long to reach the counter. All 3 of us had to share 1 salmon bagel despite initially placing order for 3 meals. Disappointing experience!
