We had the most beautiful experience at Polynesian Spa in Rotorua. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and we loved every moment of our two days of massages, facials, and total pampering.nHaving access to the thermal baths was lovely soaking while overlooking the water and listening to the gulls was pure relaxation. We also loved the addition of the cold plunge, and the gelato and fresh juices were such a fun, refreshing touch post spa day.nIt felt calm, a place to unwind, reconnect, and truly switch off.
We just visited the family pool area. Kids pool has two depths, one is 0.6-0.7m which was perfect for my 2yo and 4yo to be able to touch the bottom. The other half is 1.3m so is good for helping them to swim. We enjoyed the hotter pools too. I had read somewhere that this was a suitable rainy day activity but it was lucky it wasnt raining as only about 20% of the pool area is covered and the rest is open-air.
Lovely place to unwind after being on the road. Affordable. Friendly and attentive staff, incredible massage by a thai trained masseuse. Generous time allocation for pool access and great location with an epic view in the adult pools area.nnNot as clean as I'd have liked. There was old dirt on the shower wall for example. And there were men soaking in their underwear there. Which I didn't love.
We enjoyed our overall experience at the spa. The adults relaxed with a lovely lake view, and the young ones had fun in the family pool. However, there are a few things to note:nn1. the spa options on the website are confusing. It is actually much easier to understand what is available once you reach the ticket counter.nn2. there is a headcount limit for each pool. If you arrive later in the day, the pool you want may already be full. They do accept advance bookings, so you can reserve your preferred pool days ahead to secure entry.nn3. the family pool is quite small. On the day we visited, it felt overcrowded, almost like dumplings in a pot of hot water, which made it less enjoyable.nn4. the toilets and showers are clean and tidy, and pleasant to use.nn5. the family area only has open shelves for storage. Lockers are available only in the adult spa area.nn6. the Chinese lady at the ticket counter was incredibly helpful and patient. We are very grateful for her assistance. She is truly excellent staff.
I made a last minute booking on BookMe for the Deluxe Lake Spa $60, booked the same morning but there are better deals if booked with a bit more notice and went just after opening on a Tuesday morning.nThe receptionist was very friendly, changing rooms and showers clean, towels and lockers included.nI never had to share the pools with more than 2 others and that pools to myself noay of the time, and by the time I left at 10.30am it was almost empty. It was super relaxing.nThe pools and the view from them are lovely. Swallows were flying above me and cicadas in the trees. Quiet and relaxing. And I loved the cold plunge pool; for me it really made it.
