A nice little neighborhood restaurant with a good selection of beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages. The food was average. We ordered the beef roast and cheeseburger. The roast was somewhat chewy. The burger lacked flavor. The service was casual and friendly. The outside seating is very pleasant but don't expect table service.
We had to push back our lunchtime booking 3 times due to train issues for some of our group and they were more than happy to accommodate each time. Food was delicious, with good quality produce and nicely presented. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. We ended up spending a wonderfully relaxing afternoon in front of a real fire, eating good food and drinking good beer in a lovely welcoming atmosphere. What more can you ask for?
Had Sunday lunch here today. I can honestly say it was one of the best pub lunches I have had in a long time. Our party of three had roast pork loin & it was delicious. The service was discreet & attentive. The pub is dog friendly & very family friendly. I have no hesitation in recommending The Plough. It's probably best to prebook as the pub was very busy.
Excellent first time visit. The food was fantastic. Can only wish that next time I order one of each! The cheese souffle was light and cheesy, like it should be. The haddock rarebit was very tasty, portion size is good and the waitress was perfect. Nothing was too much.
We arrived after having missed our previous lunch booking 5 miles away because we had a sleeping baby and didn't want to wake her up so just keep driving. On entry the smiling service lady said very sorry fully booked which was fine. We left the pub and she raced out after us saying 'I found you a table! We can't turn you away you've got a baby'. The food was amazing, everyone was lovely, it's in a great spot! Lush and will be back next time with a birthday party so win win! Thanks very much :
Great little country pub with lovely decor. Food was limited but we really enjoyed what we chose. Slight issue with pudding but that was fixed promptly. Would visit again if we were in the area.
We came for dinner, and had a great time. Good food and great service. The pub looks well kept and the ambience is perfect for date night.
Stopped here for a drink while on the way to our parents house. Wow what a great find, the Land Lady Imogen made us feel really welcome and our Dog was spoilt rooten with love. Going to visit again and try out the food so I can give a Five Star.
Very disappointed - bland tasteless expensive food. This would have been 2*s but the manager managed to raise it to three stars at the end with her interaction with us. In short the pub is beautiful and would be a great place for a drink but sadly the food was completely under seasoned and very disappointing especially for the cost of the food - which was on the high side. When we mentioned the lack of taste to the waitress she appeared to handle it really well by saying how important it was to get feedback and she would pass it on. We were therefore expecting the manager to come over and have a conversation with us but sadly that never happened. The issue was never mentioned again and when the bill came it was for the full amount. When we were leaving we mentioned our disappointment to the manager who was very apologetic as this was the first she had heard of our issues the waitress had not passed the message on. She kindly offered a refund for the mains but this was not what we had been after - all we wanted was an acknowledgment that things had not gone as planned. It looks like the Sunday roast is brilliant and we might give that a go but don’t bother with the main menu.
Incredibly friendly staff and a wonderful selection very tasty food! Seems to be reasonable value for money too, and they are dog friendly!
