In the early days I was a huge fan of Burger Fuel. The burgers were second to none! Unfortunately over the last few years the standard has dropped significantly. The beef patties are no longer juicy and succulent. Now they are consistently dry and cheap. Very little salad. Half the fries you used to get. Even the aioli doesn’t taste as good. I understand they probably needed to cut cost drastically to stay in business. It’s still a big shame the burgers are not what they used to be.
I would prefer to give zero stars! Waited for ages for our order and then told they had given it out… offered us a refund?? We were hungry so I asked for the order to be filled. Place was quiet so we figured they had forgotten. Order finally came and was wrong and so badly made that we were shocked!! Buns wet with beetroot juice, flies everywhere in the kitchen, so much sauce on the burgers that they could not be held… almost like the staff did as a joke. Staff on their phones - sorry but this used to be a great place - have been to this BF heaps… staff have zero interest in your restaurant. Unlikely to ever be back as this is an absolute joke and appalling for the brand.
Good burgers, nice staff. The motobites are a bitt tasteless and dry. The thickshakes are really small and nothing to special.Food: 4/5
Ford Freakout was good but the kumara fries were burnt, like they were scraped off the bottom of the vat, absolute rubbish.
Burgers were amazing, tasty and fresh. Sadly chicken did not come crispy and had no sauce. All 3 other sides orders came with no sauce. Actually becoming a joke around NZ is not giving sauce with meals.
Great tasting burgers and the Kumara fries and spud fries were good as is the case with other BF outlets. Burger Fuel serves Halal burgers which is so considerate of the company. Keep it up.
Great tasting burger with wonderful lake view! I think the burgers in this place is one of the best in town, not pricy, great taste and really nice view from the table! I tried the beef, chicken, and fish burger. I highly recommend the beef and fish, they are very tasty and juice! It’s also very under budget, comparing to all restaurants next doors with lake view, four burger one combo for just NZ$60
We were arriving quite late in Taupo and just ended up coming here to pick up some burgers for dinner. We ordered in store and then headed out to Pac and Save to grab a few items. The food was ready when we arrived. I had the new Ribiron burger meal and that was quite nice. Service was friendly and the food here was also nice. The biggest issue was the parking though, we were lucky we were just picking up otherwise that would have been a bit more problematic.
Busy popular store on a Thursday! Beautiful view though. Burnout was tasty as expected, spud fries with lemon aioli were good and chocolate tricks hake better than mcds.
Burger Fuel is probably the best restaurant chain in New Zealand. Their burgers are one of the best I've ever eaten, and it's on par with the price of McDonald's! The beef is very fresh. I love how they add beet root into their burgers - it actually blends well. For Muslims, they even have a halal option. Definitely a must try for everyone who comes to New Zealand!
