Nestled in picturesque alpine scenery, Pinewood is a convenient five-minute walk away from the dynamic and energetic centre of Queenstown!

We pride ourselves in being able to offer an excellent variety of accommodation- everything from dorm beds, inexpensive double and twin rooms, deluxe en-suite rooms with private bathroom amenities and self-contained family cabins. We have 27 units spread over three peaceful acres. Even better, all of our units feature their own lounge, fully-equipped kitchens and toilet/shower facilities. Since each unit has a slightly different layout, we could easily have a room or unit to meet your individual or group needs!

This flexibility, our friendly and knowledgeable staff, coupled with plenty of open grassy areas, BBQ's (including a Hangi Pit!), off-street parking, relaxing spa, and short walk to town, makes Pinewood your ideal choice for your individual or group holidays!

In 2 weeks of our time in New Zealand, this place ruined our sleep for 2 nights. We stayed in unit M. The room smelled of moulds. It felt as if we were breathing mould. I tried perfume as room freshner, but still the mould smell was unbearable. I regret booking here. You cannot relax here. I just wanted to stay out of the room. It felt so claustrophobic.
Location is solid, 5-10min walk into town. Rooms are fine not to cramped. Water is super hot and showers are fine. Service is amazing, housekeeping went above and beyond, very considerate and helpfulRooms: 4/5
Great location! But the room was terrible. There were spiders and spiderwebs under the table and there were lots of sandflies and bugs. It was cold inside the room as the heating didn’t really work, but the price was cheap and affordable. Also, the shower was blocked and would flood. Parking is very limited and we couldn’t park below our unit. Wouldn’t recommend this place to stay at.
All power outlets in the rooms are not working so, we are not able to charge our phones. Gave us wifi password but for some reason does not work on some of our phones and only 3 out of 6 was able to connect. They need to replace the carpet. Staff was nice and prompt to reply to our queries. Overall it's okey but they can do better.Rooms: 1/5
Our Rooms were clean and fresh linen ready when we arrived kitchen was put to good use all you need for a short stay location ideal to walk into town. Friendly staff . Our room was shared bathroom , nice hot shower . It was reasonably quiet . Nearby activities: We were picked up by Altitude tours to Milford Sounds a must do if you are here Chelsea was a great guide it was magical
We stayed in unit I. Entire place smelled like mold in the common areas and throughout. The units are like small houses, shaped as a rectangle, with the bedrooms all on the one side, and the kitchen, lounge and bathroom on the other side. Our bedroom was one of the two bedrooms off the lounge. There was a big gap on three of the four sides of our bedroom door, which meant we could hear absolutely any and all sound from the lounge. The bedroom literally consisted of beds, a rubbish bin, and a rack to hang clothes, not even a bedside table or a lamp. The couches in the lounge were so stained, i felt like being in the same room as them, i could catch a disease. The ceiling in the bathroom had mold everywhere. And there was only one toilet and one shower all in the same room for all the bedrooms in the unit to share. Most backpackers i have stayed in generally have two showers, and two toilets all seperate I have stayed in cheaper backpackers in Queenstown which were far cleaner. All in all, the only thing going for this place is the location.
This lodge is very disappointing, my partner and I booked this place for 3 nights and it was the most uncomfortable experience ever. Hotel room looks nothing like they advertised. Room smelled mouldy and unclean, carpets were very old and the floor was very dirty. Kitchen did not have any clean utensils. Bathroom was so dirty as well and they did not provide toilet tissues. Please do not book this place.
Booked a room for 3, the entire space was rather cramped. We also had trouble finding out carpark at night, 8pm ish as there wasn’t street lamps or any lamps that indicate “ ENTRY” , so we were driving back and forth passing runways to the carpark aimlessly. This Lodge has multiple carparks too and it does seem confusing on google maps. A feedback would be , please put lights on your “ENTRY ONLY” and “EXIT ONLY” for your carparks. Please, just in case visitors return after reception hours. Receptionist were friendly and helpful though, however I was surprised that one of them said that they charge $3 per towel, if you need extra towels for the next night of stay. That was definitely the first for me, charging of towels. Location of the lodge wasn’t exactly near towards the city too, it was 11mins walk away, in case you’ld like someone closer/ walking distance, maybe consider other places. Price point was fairly affordable, I guess you are paying for what you get.
Good location, in a quiet street, but still close to the center and main attractions. Friendly staff, but it was quite busy at the reception. I had to wait for at least 15 mins to check in. I stayed in a dorm, it was okay. The other shared areas kitchen, bathroom could be cleaner. Also it was a bit noisy in the common areas. The wifi was good. I found the price a bit expensive for what I got, but perhaps it is just Queenstown.
Location and room Is good even though it didn't look like what was advertised when booking. Regardless wifi didn't work af the staff knew this and just said there isn't anything they can do. Also it's the first hostel I've been to where the kitchen wasn't equipped well. Otherwise the place is clean, nicely loxated and overall a good option but for the higher price id expect wifi to work and a kitchen with at least the basic necessities.
