Very cool hostel with a welcoming atmosphere! I chose it online because of the prices and location- did not disappoint.nnThe rooms were lovely and I had a comfy bed near a window with no top bunk attached!! in a shared dorm.nnDuring check in we had a few laughs with the owner and the hostel was very much a community feel : with the location being g very close to everything. Would stay again for sure when in Greymouth
Stayed two separate times in different dorm rooms. Both had very springy mattresses that were uncomfortable. WiFi connection doesnt cover some places in rooms so just be aware. That said, the rooms are very affordable. Perhaps it’s getting what you pay for. Kitchen and lounge areas were clean and comfortable. Location is right in the heart of the city.
What a wonderful place to stay in Greymouth! Homely, welcoming, interesting, beautifully equipped, large kitchen, comfortable living rooms, clean, comfortable beds, close to town- couldn’t recommend highly enough! Well done to Lynda and Harry for providing this haven for weary travellers
Cons: Bathrooms are shared - misleading and wrong description for rooms!nMosquitoes in room.nVery cold roomnHeater above head does not help you sleep at night because it brightens the room.nNo ventilation in shared bathroom and shower.nThis place has been Built over an old church foundation.nnPros: access to the garden, coin laundry service and clothes line, well equipped kitchen, mattress was good.nnConclusion: We will not return, it is a very cold place, had nightmares. Not so clean in common areas and bedroom spider web, wet and smelly hand towels in kitchen and shared bathroom.nnMake your own decision.
Our last hostel of six weeks around New Zealand turned out to be the best. This hostel is located in such a beautiful and historic building, extremely clean, safe and quiet. Staff were so welcoming and we had a wonderful night’s sleep in the Elephant Room downstairs. The shared spaces are large, bright and comfortable also. Thank you for a lovely stay.
