We arrived late into Greymouth, and Global Village Accommodation was in the top rated options google map options. The pictures looked like an awesome vibe, and it was even better in person. Worldly decor and rooms, so many activities, mint facilities, plenty of great options like spa/sauna/gym. Russell was a pleasure to deal with, warm friendly and a wealth of local information. It's easily the best backpackers I've ever stayed in. We would have stayed longer if we weren't just passing through. Don't miss this gem in Greymouth!!!
While a bit out of the city centre 20min walk from starion Global Village is a gem. The owners are generous and kind, happily providing lifts to and from the station. They also provide lots of great pointers on where to go/what to do. I booked a single room and ended up with my own patio. The kitchen is spacious and there are lots of places to hangout. They have kayaks and bikes to use for free. Great value for money.
Your Global Village hosts Russel and Yuri run a fantastic backpackers in Greymouth, they keep it tidy, clean and are genuinely nice people who care about your comfort. The space itself is quirky, as the name suggests it has a definite global feel, decorated with items from around the globe. The kitchen is large and well appointed, the bathrooms clean and showers have great water pressure. The rooms offer varying configurations of single and double beds and bunks I couldn't get access to many rooms to take photos. There are bikes and kayaks to use, there's a small 'gym', a sauna and hot tub which wasn't operational while we were there. Global Village really is a great place to stay in Greymouth if you're passing through, and the surrounding area is stunning - so many walks and places of interest to check out.
Very clean hostel, the decoration and atmosphere is lovely, we stayed for a week and would like to say that we became friends with Russel and Yuri. They are very friendly and they really care about the hostel, you can use the tv room, bicycles and kayaks. The hostel really has character. And the kitchen is really well equipted! The heating works well, we never got cold at night and the beds are very comfortable each with their own reading lamp and charging station : All in all great stay.
Very homely hostel with a lovely atmosphere. We stayed there for a week and really loved it. It was really clean, the kitchen was well equiped. The owners, Russel and Yuri were super nice and really care about the hostel and the guests. Another great thing were the kayaks and mountainbikes you could use for free. There was also a TV room you could use.
If I could give them 6 out of 5 stars I would! Cant rate Russel and the Global Village team highly enough. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming, the rooms are comfortable clean and inviting. Bathrooms are clean and shower pressure is great. I had made a mistake with our booking and Russel was a dream to deal with - really makes the world of difference when you've come off a 4 day hike and you can come back to a homely and delightful home base. Thanks so much, we will certainly be staying again
Nice hostel a bit away from the centre, but the owner offered to pick us up at the main station. We weren't exactly were he expected us to be and left with other client in the span of one minute faster than the time for us to spot him, take our backpacks and move the 15 metres from our waiting location. He came back about 10 minutes later and was a bit grumpy that we weren't there the first time. But then he was quite friendly for the 2 days we stayed there. Free kayaks are provided. The wifi was quite unstable. There were only 2 showers open for the men and, for a day, only one for the women. On the second night, we were playing a card game in the kitchen at 9:30 pm with others guests and the owner asked us to go somewhere else as we would disturb sleeping peoples. It wasn't very problematic, but we all had a bad feel about how it was asked.
A quirky African themed hostel, very clean and comfortable with nice hot showers. Thankyou for making us feel so welcome. Def recommend.Rooms: 5/5
Beautiful hostel. Love the decoration and everything is spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds too. Highly recommend.
Typical and distinctive. Feel like I was in a primitive tribe. Interesting. Very big public room for travelers from all over the world. Clean kitchen and bathrooms.Rooms: 5/5
