Story

Where families and teachers bring creative children to explore curious events.

When my children were young, we had amarvelous time at the Exploratorium in Pretoria every holiday for many yeasrs. When we came to NZ 20 years ago, we explored MOTAT and the War Museum and found it interesting, but at the time it was a no touch philosophy and everything was behind glass and high up in the air.

I wanted something 'hands on', manipulative that children could take apart and put back together again. Models of real biology and anotomy models. Real science and technology activities to support their understanding and learning through play.

Now I am a grandma, and I took the bull by the horns and set up an area that is full of 'hands on' activities, real life activities and some problem solving ones that you have to work at to find the answer.

What fun! But I do have to admit setting up the science Playroom was much more fun for me than running the business, advertising and growing it. To do experiments or paint with the children are much more satisfying than sitting behind a cash register. Listening to the laughter and excited voices saying 'look at his!" Wow! is much more fun than paying bills.
