Stayed in the Sherwood unit for 1 night. What a great place to stay! The unit feels like a 2 bedroom single family house: complete with it's own parking spot, yard, and hot tub! Bathroom in the house is spacious and equipped with top quality heating unit, washing machine, and shower. Full kitchen. Bed linens are comfy, I had a wonderful 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep in the quiet, safe house. The place is 1 mile away from the famous Fairlie Bakehouse, definitely will stay again next time we crave for Fairlie meat pies!
We stayed at this amazing accomodation for a couple nights at the beginning of our Mt Cook trip. The cabins are really good, they have a lot of guidebooks and maps of the local area and hikes, very useful. There was also a hot tub! So good to look at the stars in the hot tub! The land it sits on is lovely too, there is a cool flying fox/zipline, some alpacas and sheep, and some old trucks.
We stayed in a full facility unit and it was clean and meticulously maintained as were the grounds which were beautiful. Unit even had washer/dryer and very well equipped kitchenette- even an oven,nLast minute we decided to opt for the jacuzzi which was accommodated and warmed up and running by the time we returned from our dinner. It was wonderful stargazing from the tub with a clear view of the Milky Way emerging as the sun retreated.nnShort walk into Fairlie used the back road- pleasant walk and we met a couple of laid back pigs where we found a very nice place for steak, lamb and pork sorry piggies! chops, pizza.nOwner greeted us cheerfully upon arriving spending enough time to get us situated with our unit and a rundown on food options in Fairlie and the other nearby town.nnWe were just passing through but I’d say this would be good base location for exploring Mt. Cook area and McKenzie country. Some extra driving in exchange for avoiding the tourist craziness.
Murray is an amazing host! The place is stunning and scenic, just a 30 mins short drive from Lake Tekapo, and the hot tub is a dream. I highly recommend it, especially if you have your own vehicle or campervan. The place is clean, cozy, and filled with Fairlie local stories. And don't forget to grab a delicious Fairlie pie just around the corner.
We stayed recently in a powered site in our camper. Warm and friendly welcome from Jackie.nFacilities were clean, well thought out and the environment was lovely. Would highly recommend.
