We have stayed here previously amd returned today to find the rooms have been refreshed and updated. Nice comfy seating, new drapes and sheers and other touches.nA great place to split the longer south island legs of a trip. We'll be back!
What a great place this is. Older style of units but clean and well presented. Excellent pricing. Very friendly owner and staff. Nice welcoming touches of chocolate bars and flowers. Definitely stay here again.
NEVER STAY HERE! YOU WILL REGRET IT.nnThis is by far the worst motel experience I’ve had in New Zealand, infact in the world.nnWhile I understand and accept their policy of charging for late checkout—even if you’re a few seconds late—the real issue is not the policy, but the way guests are treated.nnThe lady motel manager’s behavior was extremely rude and unprofessional. At exactly 10:00 AM, there was a knock on the door, and despite politely requesting a short extension as we had checked in very late the previous night, we were met with no understanding whatsoever.nnWhat made the experience truly unacceptable was how my family—my wife and elderly parents—were treated. The manager’s tone and conduct were so disrespectful that it felt like we were being forced out rather than checked out as paying guests. It was humiliating and completely inappropriate for a hospitality setting.nnThe lady manager clearly needs to learn the basics of hospitality and how to treat guests with courtesy and respect. I have travelled to many countries and stayed in numerous accommodations, but I have never come across a manager who lacks such basic professionalism and decency.nnThis kind of behavior is shocking and far below what anyone would expect when traveling, especially during a family vacation.nnI strongly recommend that anyone traveling between Queenstown and Christchurch consider other accommodation options. There are plenty of better places where guests are treated with basic courtesy and respect.nnStaying here could genuinely ruin your trip.
We initially chose to stay at Aorangi Motel as hotels in Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook were overpriced and limited even months out before our holiday. I wasn’t sure about the location at first but after staying here I would highly recommend it! Fairlie is a nice small town that has several cafes and small shops which are not overrun by tourists. The rooms are clean, well maintained and excellent value for money. The check-in process is a breeze. I would definitely stay here instead of the over touristy town of Lake Tekapo. I forgot behind my phone charger in the room and the owner Erin posted it to me in Australia without charge. This is fantastic service from a family run business. Definitely recommended
We stayed at Aorangi Motel before heading to Lake Tekapo and Mount Cook the next day, and it was a great choice. It’s a small-town motel that offers excellent value for money. The room was very clean, well maintained, and extremely comfortable, making it a perfect place to rest before continuing our journey. Simple, cosy, and convenient. We would happily stay here again.
