Story

Motuoapa Lake Resort is ideally situated for travellers and holidaymakers. Conveniently located on State Highway One, the Lodge is a very suitable base for a holiday, to visit the many world famous attractions located around the region.

We are a short 35-minute drive from the Whakapapa ski fields and have a drying room and laundry available for guest use.

Located between Auckland and Wellington, the Resort provides convenient accommodation for travellers with an award winning cafe located opposite and Turangi just minutes away.



"Looking for a getaway? Just down the road from Lake Taupo, our six self-contained chalets are one or two bedrooms and include linens, kitchenettes, full bathroom and parking space for boats too. Suitable for families with an on-site play ground. Close to Turangi shops or 40mins to Taupo. Skiing and snowboarding at Mt. Ruapehu is nearby and The Tongariro Crossing is a must do!"

I cant express how well everything was thought out for the guests. We walked in on a cold night with a perfectly heated room. The room was extremely clean and every little detail was a bonus. There were even ear plugs and makeup remover. We booked this a night before a long weekend at a really reasonable price
100% recommend booking here if you're looking for a place in the area. We stayed in the Deluxe 2-Bedroom chalet for two nights and used it as our base to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. The park & drive by the park is only 45mins away and Taupo is about a 30mins drive. The chalet itself was clean, spacious, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen is very well equipped. It was also nice to have outdoor seating to enjoy the afternoon sun. Just recommend closing the windows and door before sunset to avoid loads of mosquitos coming in we found out the hard way and were happy that there was bug spray in the chalet provided by the host ;- .
These are really nice chalets at affordable prices. The chalets are well equipment with cooking utensils and the bedrooms are nice and comfy. The chalets are all new looking inside and out. Would highly recommend to others.
Loved this place! The environment is very quiet and relaxing. Chalets are fully equipped with everything you need for a great stay, even to cook simple meals. The heat pump is a good bonus. We appreciated the nice touches such as toiletries. Carrie is a wonderful host and goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable.

+ Nice, fairly modern rooms + Good heatpump + Full kitchen with plenty of cooking options, plates, cutlery... - We found the mattress quite uncomfortable - Close to a road that can be noisy at times
Beautiful, brand new, crisp white linen and towels, air conditioned. Nice veranda. Only negative is its right next to the 1. Lots of vehicle noise. But very very nice
Really enjoyed our stay at Motuoapa Bay Chalets. Lovely grounds in beautiful scenery. Really close to the lake and Turangi, but nice to be in a quieter area for relaxing, yet still close to the action. Fantastic host, and nice social playground for families!
Second time staying here love everything about this place always tidy smells nice and has everything you need even a playground for kids will always try book it when we come through to Taupo if its not booked out so if you know your dates i diffinitlly reccomend to book in fast A+++
Absolutely perfect spot for some down time. Very helpful staff. Lovely surroundings. Very peaceful. Would thoroughly recommend and will visit again, definitely.
