It's a great hotel with awesome service. The staff are so lovely, helpful and professional. The rooms and pool are really nice. We love hanging out by the pool and looking up at the mountains. The bar has great prices and the bar menu is yum. The buffet and restaurant are not that great. The restaurant meals are a bit bland and overpriced which is a bummer. If they got the meals sorted the place would be awesome.
We had a one night stay. The room had a beautiful view of the lake and that was the highlight. The room was clean and tidy, with basic amenities.nnThe staff did the bare minimum on arrival and check out. They were not engaged with us at all. This was a missed opportunity to tell us about the facilities available during our stay.nnIt is a lovely and quiet spot, which we enjoyed. A shame the whole place is feeling a bit tired and rundown.
We enjoyed a three-night stay in a room with two queen beds that offered a beautiful view of the lake. While the service was satisfactory, there is an opportunity for improvement in the warmth and energy of the staff. Additionally, we found the housekeeping to be below the standards we typically expect from a branded hotel, particularly regarding the availability of bath towels.nnThe location, situated up the hill, provides a peaceful atmosphere, although it's about a 20-minute walk to town. If you're driving, it’s quite convenient, with just a three-minute drive. There are various parking options available in town, including free 30-minute spots and paid lots ranging from $3 to $6 per hour, which is great for those who enjoy a quieter area. Overall, with a few enhancements, our experience could have been even better.
We stayed for 4 nights. Because of Platinum membership, our room was upgraded and also we were given a reserved parking breakfast spread was decent. Views from room and some of the common area were amazing. Jacuzzi is wonderful as well. Location is little away from center town, so need to take bus to reach town.
I feel like I was sold a lie somewhat. The pictures of the rooms and facilities do not match real life. The garden view room at least, was really small and dated. The bathroom looks like it hasn’t been touched since it was first constructed in the 70’s or 80’s maybe. The location is quiet as it is over 2km from the town centre. The price paid did not match the facilities or amenities. I mean, an outdoor pool that is NOT heated, really? On the few sunny and warm days we experience the water was still shockingly cold. Charged almost $5 for two phone calls under 20sec, one of which I did not even make. We ended up staying an extra night in Queenstown and found an amazing 2bed full sized apartment with kitchen and washing facilities and a yard, for a similar price to stay at the Mercure. Definitely shop around, there are much better places which are family friendly, and closer to town. About the only positive I can say, was happy hour was good, cheap drinks and the bartender, a young American dude was cool and friendly.
