We had an excellent stay at Kamana Lakehouse.nnFrom the initial booking of the two rooms required with assistance from the Hotel direct, to the staff throughout our entire 6/7 day stay, we couldn't fault the Hotel overall.nnBoth rooms were in the main building and had side views towards the town centre which was great.nThe breakfast setup each morning was excellent and of high-quality.nNo issues parking our hire car each day on the property after travelling out and about.nThe bar area was also really nice to unwind and have a few drinks and bar food if need be. They have these four long open heaters which create a really great ambience.nThe rooms were quiet, well appointed and very comfortable.nnThe staff across all areas particularly the breakfast crew were really great throughout our stay and we really enjoyed the overall experience and Hotel.
Know Before You Book-nnThe location is absolutely stunning and the service was wonderful—staff were attentive and genuinely tried their best to help.nnHowever, we were very surprised and disappointed to arrive and find full-scale construction directly in front of the hotel, which significantly impacted the sense of privacy and serenity we were hoping for. While the hotel mentioned it was disclosed on the website and in the booking email, the information was buried and not clearly communicated. It definitely wasn’t obvious at the time of booking.nnThe Assistant Manager, Jessica, did everything she could and kindly offered a full refund, but since it was a busy weekend and lake-view rooms in other hotels were sold out, we decided to stay. We appreciated the dinner credits and wine as a gesture.nnThat said, our room experience was compromised—there were workers right outside our window and even the soaking tub glass had to be frosted. You could hear conversations, and standing up would make you visible to construction workers. Definitely not the relaxing lakefront experience we came for.nnI did recommend that the hotel make this construction notice very clear upfront, so guests know what to expect before booking. Hopefully management will bring that transparency forward.nn-Beautiful location, great service, but make sure you’re fully aware of the construction situation before booking if privacy or peaceful views are important to you.
To be aware:nnThe rooms look out directly onto the main car park of the accomodation. Ignoring the construction which for us wasn't a major deal, it was a real bummer to arrive and find out that anyone using the carpark would be able to see into our room.nnThe option was either closing the curtains to have privacy and not being able to see the lovely mountains or leaving the curtains open in which case everyone could see into our room.nnAdditionally, staff were not super responsive when we mentioned a few small issues coffee machine broken, requesting information about the hot tub.
Away from the town centre but in an elevated position with dining room views over the lake - the hotel has much going for it.nComfortable rooms, many with a lake view at a premium.nnBreakfast a bit confusing with 'ordering' of most elements, but limited cereal / fruit buffet selection.nEvening meal has a range of options - the taster menu with matched wine is a good effort, but the restaurant area does not feel in any way special, private or upmarket.nEfficient front desk staff and comfortable rooms. Adequate parking and taxi's/Uber available. Tour buses pick up from the hotel.nnHot tub is a disappointment - simple warm water tub with top view - but free. Rather less private access in. bathrobes..nnNew developments of apartments down the hill will impact experience and some of the view, but building noise not found to be intrusive. Would visit again aware of potential issues.
Lovely Lakehouse, not on a lake but overlooks the water. Excellent fine dining restaurant. A little way out of Queenstown so you will need a Taxi, Uber or hire car. We stayed over New Year and it was a bit pricey $1000 per night to welcome in New Year, but we were comfortable and it was quiet.
