Beware: the photos of this hotel are way nicer than the reality. I’m sad to write this review as I booked this place for a special Christmas Day stay my husband and I were really looking forward to, and it was not cheap $777 NZ a night plus a parking fee!. Sadly, it’s very run down. Our room could only be described as beat up. There wasn’t a single piece of furniture in the room that wasn’t chipped, the walls were scuffed beyond belief, surfaces were dusty, there were handprints on the headboard, the conditioner bottle was totally empty found out mid-shower, the bathroom smelled like mildew, and there was animal poop on the balcony/chair. Hot tub was always too full to use. We asked if we could pay to upgrade to the next tier of room, but unfortunately they were fully booked — and while did give us a room on a higher floor which helped marginally, I honestly felt bamboozled for the price I paid. The lobby and restaurant also smelled awful. They must have a really strong scent they blast through, but I couldn’t spend more than 5 mins in there. If you have allergies, it is not the place for you. Pros were the view, and the bed was comfortable. Keep in mind booking sites may use a picture of their nicest room, which in my experience was a far cry from what was received. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I would think twice before booking this hotel especially for nice occasions or holidays.
Poor wif conection, but Super helpful concierge ...there was no shampoo/soap/conditioner and he efficiently found some. The rooms service must have forgotten, we're all humans and make mistakes. The rooms were so comfortable and we all had the best sleeps in a year ! Car parking s $15/night anywhere on premises. The key card was deactivated and new ones given quickly, The key card will deactivate at 11am despite a 1pm late check out. Lovely walk down to town from this hotel
Incorrect bedding supplied. Broken bed base with nails exposed. Not addressed until follow up requests made after maintenance staff had left. Had to escalate twice to supervisor staffnnCouldn’t manage to supply dishwashing tablets for dishwasher. I imagine affects cleanliness of dishes for all guests over the time we were there and perhaps longer.nnDated and tired decor and appliances. Cancelled our subsequent booking and went elsewhere.nnStaff pleasant and accomodating. Appears to have been let down by systemic underinvestment in facility and it is really showing.nnSurprising to experience given standards elsewhere with
Absolutely amazing stay!nnOur stay at the Randezvous Heritage Hotel in Queenstown was unforgettable. The view from our room was absolutely breathtaking — overlooking the Remarkables and Cecil Peak, it felt like waking up in a postcard every morning.nnThe location is ideal, just on the way to Fernhill. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the centre of town, so you get the best of both worlds: close enough to everything, yet peaceful and quiet, away from the crowds. We loved being able to stroll down the road to take in the views or enjoy a little hike through the nearby forest.nnThe staff and service were superb. A huge thank you to Vaclav and Arusha, who went above and beyond to make our stay extra special — their warmth and hospitality really stood out.nnWe couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Queenstown!
Our stay at Rendezvous Heritage Hotel, Queensland was awful from start to finish, and I would strongly warn anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere.nnTo begin with, we paid specifically for a lake view balcony room, only to be told on arrival that we were being “upgraded” to a studio apartment. This so called upgrade was actually a downgrade with no view at all, clearly an attempt to cover the fact that they did not have the room we paid for available. After several minutes of arguing, the staff member finally admitted that the lake view balcony room was booked out.nnTo make matters worse, the manager on duty, Anvesh Verma, repeatedly tried to sell the room we were given instead as a “Deluxe Room Lake View.” However, on the hotel’s own website, the exact room is listed simply as a Deluxe Room, with photos… no mention of a lake view at all. It felt misleading and dishonest, as though he was trying to make the downgrade sound better than it actually was, rather than acknowledging the issue.nnInstead of fixing the issue or giving us the room we paid for, they offered a small “goodwill” refund, which essentially meant we paid the full price of the downgraded room. The problem was never resolved, and we never received what we booked.nnCheckout was somehow even worse. Their system “wasn’t working,” and as a result my card was charged three times, and they also made my friend pay by card as well. When we questioned this, we were told, “This is normal, the system always does this.” That is completely unacceptable and incredibly concerning. Being overcharged multiple times is not “normal” under any circumstances.nnAnvesh’s behaviour was extremely rude and dismissive. He spoke over us repeatedly while we were trying to ask simple questions and showed no interest in helping or resolving anything. His attitude alone would be enough to put us off returning.nnOn top of all this, my white shirt went missing after cleaning. While I can’t say this with absolute certainty, it disappeared during the hotel’s cleaning process and was never found.nnAfter everything we went through: not getting the room we paid for, being overcharged, rude staff, and missing belongings… they couldn’t even offer us free water as a basic gesture of goodwill. We had travelled all this way and were treated like an inconvenience rather than paying guests.nnOverall, this was a horrible experience from beginning to end. We do not recommend this hotel to anyone, and we will actively make sure none of our friends or family ever stay here. Save yourself the stress, frustration, and disappointment… there are far better hotels that actually respect their guests.
