I can only recommend to avoid this practice. I second what others here wrote about the receptionists. But also, they do not care about their patients. They sent my wife away twice in two years although she needed to see a doctor urgently. Shame on you.
Dr David Henry has been my GP for nearly 20 years and I'm very glad that I found him when we moved to Meadowbank. He has seen me through a few major health scares and always treats me with kindness and respect. He clearly knows his stuff and doesnt mess about when he sees that you need to see a specialist.
Doesn't allow same-day bookings for new patients? I saw an available booking today online and wanted to reserve it. I understand new patients need to enrol/register/fill out forms which is fine. I called to book and the receptionist said she can't book me in if I'm not registered fine and makes sense. Said she could send me forms to fill out also fine but that she can't book me an appointment today because I wasn't registered what. Maybe entering new patient data takes a while or it takes them 2 business days to enter information? Didn't expect to be turned away so easily. I figured you should be able to register by email or in person then be seen for an appointment. Seems more comprehensive and long-winded here. The receptionist didn't ask what I wanted to be seen for which was a sore and possibly dislocated/unhinged nail, but not an emergency and went straight to her rejection script. I'll pass.
Dr. Kerryn Van Rij is wonderful. She picked up diagnosis multiple doctors and specialists from other practices had missed for months. She's through, caring and has a wonderful positive energy. I've seen another doctor there too when she was away and had a great experience.
The reception Cathy Hall is unprofessional and treated me poorly. I tried to make a *casual* appointment last week for a friend. There were available time slots that morning but she refused to make me an appointment only because my friend didn't have a 2-year visa. She clearly didn't know the difference between an enrolled patient and a casual patient. Yet she was full of herself and cut me off before I was even finished on the phone. I went in later that day, because they are literally across the street from me, to ask her why she did that - and again, she showed nothing but arrogance and obviously didn't think she did anything wrong. She said she cut me off on the phone because there was someone else calling - what a lovely way to say "I don't care if you are finished or not, I can hang up on you as much as I want".
Overall experience has been pretty great. I’ve met 3 different doctors so far and they have all been very helpful.
The Meadowbank team are fastidious and thorough. Always helpful, with some of the most experienced GP's in the country at their fingertips. Highly recommended.
