Stale, musty, dirty air, also ....the door lock was broken nnWallpaper peeling off the walls, mould in the shower, a used tissue left in the bathroom bin, and old snot residue still in the sink.nnThis is basic hygiene, not a minor issue....!!nnThe online photos must be very old, because the motel does not look like that at all!!nnWe’ve stayed in so many motels across New Zealand, and have never ever experienced accommodation in such poor condition.nnAt $169 per night, this is completely unacceptable and extremely disappointing....nnUnfortunately we booked and paid online, without checking reviews.nLesson definitely learned.nnWe will be checking reviews from now on.nnManagement seriously needs to step up. I will not stay here again. And I recommend anyone reading this shouldn't either. We had room 6, upper level. Booked for two nights in advanced, over three weeks prior to arriving $125.00 per night. This room caters for three people sleeping. Dining utensils cups plates etc only for two. Wardrobe in a cupboard over the fridge, the fridge needs replacing its old maybe the 50's 60's era. Rusting at the bottom, also a very loud compressor unit. The dining table, not actually a table, fixed to the wall with hingers, so basically dropdown fold away style. Due to it being fixed to a pedestal leg it won't fold away. Poorly designed seating at the table as one sits in front of the fridge, and you have to move when you need to get items out of the fridge. Not a relaxing atmosphere so to say. No kitchenette, had to rinse cups, plates etc in the hand basin in the bathroom, not very hygienic in my view. The bathroom door wouldn't stay closed, the door just unlatched itself. Microwave only, on bench under the TV with sky decoder on top. Very basic channels on sky, no movies channels, sport channels are good. Had to ask for milk after we got settled in the room. Next day, while we were out, no rubbish collection, no fresh clean towels or flannels, towels, flannels are brown colour never have experienced this in other motels I've stayed in, normally white is the standard colour so makes one wonder if they are really clean. Also, complimentary shampoo is in a tear sachet and they weren't restocked. Tea coffee etc sachets also weren't restocked. Carpet could do with a very good clean. Rooms aren't very soundproof, can here other guest talking at least two rooms away. Not enough allocated secured vehicle parking spaces for the number of rooms. There is an area that could be used for parking, but it is very unsecure as the motel doesn't have a security camera over that area. Also, it is easily accessible from the street, plus there is a large pothole so to say in the lawn and with the wet weather weekend it was quite muddy. The swimming pool hasn't been cleaned in a while as the water and pool sides were green, not an inviting gesture if it was a hot sunning day.
I would not recommend staying at this motel. The pictures on the website must be very old because none of what we found matched them. There was blackberry and other weeds around the dirty swimming pool, the bathroom pipes were rusted and filthy, the curtains were ripped, shower taps were so worn you couldn’t tell what was hot or cold. The car park was infested with weeds and the small lawn wasn’t maintained. The only good thing was a reasonably comfortable bed.
Room 5 the room door did not close. Shower floor was questionable very tiny not comfortable. No sink for kitchenette. No sharp cutlery. Super soft bed not suitable for sleeping, for one not two we rolled together over the night was a broken sleep. Floor creaked. Toilet is loud once flushed and the pool was filthy. Over all book elsewhere for a comfortable place to stay this place lacked many comforts.
Very old style country Motel, ancient decor very interesting but was only $95 for the night so definitely great value. Bed was comfortable enough and had new TV and air con.
