Tokoroa has always been a town short on decent accommodation. All 3 Motels in town were all quite rundown and in desperate need of investment and refurbishment. On my monthly visits I have been tending to stay in Taupo or Rotorua and driving over. I was very pleasantly surprised to be told that Clifton Court Motel had been renovated, so I was joyed to book in for a night on my last visit to Tokoroa.nnClifton Court Motel is well located on State Highway One, next door to a Mobil Service Station. It is also within walking distance of Burger King, KFC, McDonalds, The Warehouse, Woolworths and Tokoroas CBD. Check In is contact-less, something that must be left over from Covid times. It's great for an easy/efficient check in, but it does kind of take away that personal aspect.nnHeaps of parking available outside each of the units, with heaps of extra parking as well.nnI had booked a Studio for the night. On entering the room it felt very bright, clean and comfortable despite being a cold and wet day. The rooms are small, but are plenty big enough for a one night stay. I love the fact that there is a recliner next to the bed to relax on and watch Telly. I hate rooms where the only place to sit is on the bed. The bathroom has also been renovated, and again is extremely nice and clean. The shower was awesome with great pressure.nnThe bed was pretty comfortable, and all the linen was crisp and of good quality. There was quite a bit of road noise from the State Highway, but this is to be expected.nnThere was no air conditioning/heatpump unit, and I imagine the rooms would be quite warm over summer. However on this mid Autumn stay, it was pleasant.nnThe TV was equipped with a Smart TV function, with Netflix ect. The WiFi was exceptionally good with no streaming issues on any of my devices.nnI have only two complaints about my stay. 1 being the light blinds that cover the main ranchslider/entrance, let in a LOT of light at night. Having proper curtains or black out blinds would be awesome.nnThe other complaint/suggestion would be to remove the crazy picture of Superman hanging above the Kitchenette. It makes the room look sooo tacky and looks sooo out of place. Brings the whole tone of the room down.nnAll in all a fabulous stay at Clifton Court Motel. They have done a wonderful job at refurbishing the place, and it truly is the ‘best place to stay in the South Waikato’. The prices and value for money is bang on. Will most definitely be returning and I'll be glad not to have to stay in Taupo or Rotorua on these visits.

The room is so spacious and has everything you need. The size was perfect for my family. Room was clean and comfortable. On top of all of this, the location is exceptional, walk to everything and so much right on your doorstep. Friendly helpful staff at reception. Fantastic stay!
We are a group of 6 people on a business trip and recently stayed in Clifton Court Motel in late October 2024. It was our first time staying at this motel. The location is so handy that we could easily walk to almost everything within 5-10 minutes including supermarket, restaurants, the Council, CBD shops, and all amenities. The rooms are very clean, spacious and beautiful. The beds are very comfortable. The parking spaces are huge. In particular, the hosts Anne and Mark are very friendly, welcoming and professional. We arrived and checked in quite late and they got everything ready for us and they have even printed out invoices for us. This is an extremely pleasant stay, much better than most of our business trip accommodations. Whenever we visit this area in the future, we will definitely stay here again. We highly recommend this top quality motel to everyone, business men/women in particular.
Recently our group stayed in 5 units over 3 nights. The cleaning staff and weekend manager did an excellent job. No complaints there. They were friendly and helpful. But they were let down by their overall managers who were more concerned with following covid guidelines Nov 24? than caring for their customers. They avoided speaking to us and when they did their tone was abrupt and impolite. We wondered why they didn't wear masks? We were disappointed in their attitude which made us feel unwelcome. A real pity as we were there for a special occasion which had been months in the planning.nI've just read the manager's reply. Wow! I hardly said a word to them except to say hello and introduce myself and to say I had a broken right arm. Was that being rude? My painful arm prevented me from holding my bag so I put it down and got my other one.nOh dear! All a misunderstanding, I think, on both sides. If they had explained the problem in the first instance we would have understood where they were coming from. I should add that our units were well prepared and quite comfortable.nA thank you for our business would have been appreciated and a courteous manner on their part would have gone a long way to make us feel welcome.
