An unassuming restaurant from the outside behind the servo bit actually quite big inside.nnTheres a good variety of food available to order for Yum cha and there's 2 tiers of pricing which is less confusing then Yum cha on other countries. overall it was satisfactory if you needed a Yum Cha fix in Christchurch.nn they use real teas, not tea bags. I like my puer dark and strong.n The dough in the rice noodle was crunchy which was goodn× The rice noodle was a bit too thicknn-- Bamboo pork roll, beef dim aim and prawn dumpling was average. Pork had a slightly odd taste. The filling in the prawn dumpling was nice.nn-- congee size was enough for 4 -5 servings In their bowls. had a bit of MSG in it though.
Very nice atmosphere and very spacious too. Love the aquarium with massive crayfish on display. Very yummy food of course.
We came for dinner and were surprised by how generous the portions were, especially the rice and meat dishes. Even after eating a lot, we still had plenty to take away. I really enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken. The stir-fried beef with ginger and onion was decent, though it could use more greens instead of just carrots. The chili oil was excellent and really enhanced the overall flavors
Everytime there is a special occasion or just whenever my dad craves for chinese food, Madam Kwong is our go to. The place is big, it has nice interior. But its hard to communicate with the servers due to language barrier but they are still lovely. The woman who arranges the seating, not sure if she is the owner or the manager keeps shouting. There were a guests who came and went straight to a table not knowing that they need a reservation and that lady was shouting that they shouldn’t sit there and that they need a booking prior to sitting on a table. I just find it rude because she was shouting and I feel bad for those people though.
I have visited atleast 10 times now alone as well as with my son and friends and each time it's a wholesome delicious meal.nSometimes even unable to eat all the food because the serving size was bigger than we expected.nnMy favorite meal to order is the braised beef brisket noodle soup. I love that we are able to choose from different types of noodles to have in the soup. So far my favorite is between the wide noodle and vermicelli noodle.nnThe beef soup is lovely and fragrant and the beef is juicy and soft. The green seasonal vegetables in the soup are also vibrant and fresh.nnI also really enjoy the jasmine tea they serve here.nnAnother favorite is the braised beef brisket Hotpot dish. Definitely order 2 or 3 of these when with a group because it's so delicious.nnI especially love coming for dinner here later in the night. This place is open until 2am!! Amazing . I really love coming here late at night on my own for a peaceful beef noodle soup and being able to view a movie playing on the big screen TV.
