So good we had to go back twice during our holidays! Roasted Duck and Shao Rou were top notch! A proper Chinese restaurant serving good and authentic Chinese dishes such as Sweet Sour Pork, Garlic Steamed Prawns, and Fried Wantons. Really recommend their Wasabi Prawn for a mild spicy kick! Portions were generous as well. Highly recommend you make a reservation before coming here for dinner as the tables get filled really quickly. Definitely will come back!
The restaurant looks to be well established amongst the strip and promotes itself on Cantonese hence we were keen to try.nnIt was super busy for Sunday lunch time which was promising. between the 2 of us we had a medium hot and sour soup $14 , fried beef noodles$24 and braised fish and tofu on rice $24.nnThe soup was uncharacteristically sweet and frankly odd.nnThe beef rice noodle was average in taste and nothing really notable.nnMy beef pardon the pun was the fish dish. In Hong Kong it's made with pieces of lightly coated fish emphasise on light and braised tofu.nwhat I got here were a couple of pieces of thickly battered fish, so much so that there's more batter than fish. The tofu was tasteless but can't be helped as the gravy was light and bland. overall a bland dish with poor quality ingredients.nnOn my way to the cashier I scanned the dishes on the other tables and didn't see anything really worth coming back for. I do note that there's quite a nice display of cakes which did look pretty good for dessert.nnoverall ok, decent servings size and comfortable seatingis is probably the notable Cape callout here
Excellent food for a very reasonable price. Set lunch menu had soup and rice as well. Staff are super friendly and inviting. An excellent place for lunch or dinner. Highly recommend this place, you'll arrive joyful and leave joyfully having been happiness filled.
A classic Chinese restaurant that you can rely on to be consistent. Serving sizes are absolutely huge so bring a big appetite or a takeaway container they don’t mind.nnYou’ll see many big groups dining here for good reason so come with a group if you want to try a range of dishes.
After watching the YouTube intro for this restaurant, I was super excited to try it, especially the char siu. I had the Manuka char siu at Timaru Canjoy before, and it was unforgettable. Here, the portion sizes are generous, but the flavor just doesn't make the cut. The char siu was really dry, and its bright red color seemed way too unnatural—definitely looks like they used food coloring. The whole plate felt like it was just microwaved before serving. What a disappointment!
