The best chicken on rice, garlic prawns & crispy/bbq pork in the world Wouldn't go anywhere else.
The food was okay.. Feels kind little bit dirty..Food: 3/5
Delicious and affordable food. But service was not great, lady in the front was kinda rude maybe it’s the way she talks or i don’t know, she did not give us the complimentary tea but other customers had it. I was shocked that the pork bbq was put in the microwave to reheat it first time I saw it in person, idk if this applies to other restaurants
Highly recommend! Have eaten here a few times and really enjoy the food, so tasty and flavour filled! Staff are lovely and attentive, we sat down and within 2 minutes had a steaming teapot of tea to sip. We had crispy pork belly noodle soup and beef brisket on rice. The noodle soup was especially delicious and a welcome meal for me as I was craving a good broth from my travels around south east Asia, hit the spot! :
1st time so thought we'd give it a try. Had my favorite crispy pork with rice and a duck dish with vegetables.Service was fine and both happy with our meals so would go back again. Parking: Northcote shopping centre , heaps of parking.
It's shame that it is now closed permanently. The aunties servers gave me 'true Asian aunty vibes'. Love the pork on rice and some other dishes.
Extensive menu. Love a duck does great duck, but their stir fry was great too. Don't judge the place on the looks, food was amazing and staff very friendly.
Left feeling conflicted and plates barely touched - I'm sure the staff are lovely people and I understand everyone's struggling with inflation and staying afloat in COVID times, but the price is ridiculous for the portion size and plating. Crispy BBQ pork on rice is literally that - no vegetables or anything, just a handful of meat on sad, mushy rice at $17.00, presented like yesterday's leftover takeaway. Six deep fried wontons, albeit crunchy, were 90% pastry, with only a pinch of soggy carrot, onion and 'meat?' inside: $7.00. The flat rice noodles could have been alright, but again: mediocre broth that tasted like pasta water, no veggies, just meat on top - $17.00. Google is showing pretty mixed reviews up until recently, so maybe we just went on a bad day, and the BBQ meat itself was fine, but I am telling you, we were just left speechless at the price point vs serving and presentation of our meals. I'm sorry, but this place was just not for us.
Worst takeaway in Northcote - was so disappointed, the combination meats was stone cold, Wong tongs were was just basically pastry, with the tiniest amount of meat. I was overcharged by $9, the portions were extremely small for the price, I will not be going back and I don’t recommend this place to anyone.
A very basic looking Chinese cafe but with a good selection of BBQ meats in the window. The menu is good. It's not massive but lists a variety of dishes not found in most suburban places. Service is basic but efficient. The food itself is flavoursome and nicely cooked. Not a lot of meat in the meat dishes but, then again, they seem to be reasonable cuts. Veggies are fresh and, unlike a lot of places on the Shore, neither enormous near-raw nor soggy messes. The restaurant, itself, isn't the kind of place you would seek out for dining in, but there are a few tables. Still, basically a takeaway. So, it's rather curious that they don't provide bags. Be warned: take your own bag of find yourself juggling a pile of boxes. A couple of other slightly stingy points: no dipping sauce with dumplings really?!. And I still can't get used to the NZ expectation that you pay for steamed rice, no matter how much you buy. Not expensive to buy but it seems a bit mean. All up, in context of pretty poor suburban Chinese restaurants, this is probably a good choice for takeaway Chinese. But if there any amazing little gems around the area I'd love to know.
