Kingsgate Hotel Whangarei

The room was very clean and tidy. Service desk was great and the dinner meal was nice! I would suggest getting rid of those large circular mirrors in the room though. I'm not sure they are that necessary and are a bit off-putting. Otherwise, a good stay and will be going back there again if need be.Rooms: 4/5

Lack of trained staff but in the current situation thats understandable in NZ. Was a half empty can of beer in the room fridge so didn't leave me confident in the cleanliness. Could be great but they have some work to do. Food & drinks: Dinner was ok not sure id dine again. Buffet breakfast was very good we all enjoyed it.

The room was beautifully presented but the rest of the hotel is looking very tired. Photos promised more of the pool. Didnt swim.Rooms: 5/5

More "Extinction" than Distinction, looks and feels more like a hostel and the rooms are pretty horrific. I would recommend you sought alternative accommodation pending your budget. I still have PTSD from my initial stay back in July 2021, given that over a year on 19/09/22 I am now writing this review.Rooms: 1/5

Stayed here about a month ago. Reasonably clean and has a nice view. The room was located along the main road and was little noisy at night but not too disturbing. Bed was not comfortable and I woke up with back pain.

I really enjoyed my week stay here. My room was nice, clean and comfortable. It had everything I needed. The staff and service was fantastic. I needed an umbrella and a phone charger as my one broke and these were provided so thank you for going the extra mile. The staff are friendly and approachable. Thank you for having me, I will definitely be back with my family whenever we visit Whangarei.

Had to stay in Whangarei following my father's surgery and these guys were awesome. Made us feel at home. Nothing was a problem. Excellent room service, definitely bought ease to a trying situation. Most grateful.

thank you so much, I was greeted with a beautiful smile, only saw beautiful smiles and leaving sad coz gonna miss them, the food was amazing, the steak on point my room clean and very cozy beds, big tv in my room, beautiful clean inside swimming pool and spa and access to a gym, the buffet was yum and staff are easy to talk to if any specials needs, under pressure with big groups from rugby groups to fire fighters the food remained amazing and the service never dropped, first time here but love to one day come back, highly recommend EVERYBODY come here, thank u all so much :

Checked in one of the twin room for work..this is one of the newly renovated rooms that are much nicer than the old rooms which I previously stayed at. Service is as expected. Didn't eat at the restaurant and why would you, when this is in walking distance to the basin great location for dining etc. I've stayed in lots of places in Whangarei for work. No this is not the Hilton but for Whangarei..this might be as good as your gonna get especially for the price. I would stay here again but only in the newer rooms

Stayed with work. The staff are friendly and it has good amenities, spa, pool, gym etc. although the rooms have been painted and semi redecorated. The air con was old and very noisy. The shower surged hot and cold and was very uncomfortable. The restaurant was okay but again for the price charged not much better than average pub food.
